I see Frankie Dettori rode for Baffaert. I was naive in thinking that FD cared for the way that trainers look after their horses. Clearly, riding fees determine his principles.
I am inclined, perhaps wrongly, to give trainers as a whole (in the UK and EIRE) a positive mark for their care and concern for their animals. But there are red lines and Baffaert has been prepared to abuse the rules to succeed. Owners are in a different category and there are clearly some whose principles are woefully unacceptable.
Need a big price for any hope in naps table, so Baby Ben in 1.45MR

No naps these days due to work commitments. However, bearing in mind the chat last week regarding the state of racing in the U.K., I caught up on “Luck on Sunday” last night where Charlie Mann was particularly good on the state of the industry and the BHA in particular. Worth watching, together with Ralph Beckett on the same programme in the late summer of 2021.
Esprit De Somoza looks a good thing in the Win 4.30. Not a very exciting nap...Better odds than yesterdays Good thing - give me a Moment ( 1 to 3) that was just too short to nap..
The form of Alan, David, Leo, Gaz & Rob has driven me to ever more speculative selections and today is no exception. I’m going for I’m Spellbound (each way) in the 1.45 at Market Rasen. There are only five runners and current price is 33/1. Come 2pm and we’ll probably see such odds were merited!
