Global Citizen won at 28/1. I napped it each way and fortunately took 50/1 last night. I lost confidence when I saw the going today but he’s always had a little bit of class, had bottom weight and was given a nice positive ride by Kielan Woods. Made my day!
Two NRs because of the ground and five pulled up - in a bumper! This is supposed to be the British championship of racing and Pullin has behaved as if it's a flapping meeting. Fortunately Facile Vega's sheer class won the day - he was always going to win whatever the conditions. As I pointed out weeks ago, Willie has said FV is the best horse he has ever brought across for the Champion Bumper and now we all better believe it. It's so rare to breed a champion from a champion racemare.
I am not surprised Nicholls was seething. I was looking forward to seeing Bravemansgame and Thyme White as they both had great chances. Stage Star was lost at sea and after that the die was cast. All those weeks and months of preparation and planning and all wasted because of the idiotic misjudgement of one individual. The Skeltons must be gutted about the lost opportunity for Nube Negra too, and as for Shishkin's connections - they must be despondent after watching one of the most exciting horses in training in this country toiling as if he was totally out of his depth.
Well done, Cheltenham's rookie clerk of the course Jon Pullin. You basically wrecked the ground by chucking all that water on and now with all the rain it's a real gluepot. Journey With Me was out on his feet in the Ballymore and his tired fall could have disastrous consequences. And he is a stout stayer too. Did you not look at the weather forecast, Mr Pullin?
@Harrytheactor A moronic act. Just because an exceptional looking horse broke the course record.

Pathetic situation at the course for the Bumper. Pullin with his map and chicanes. Soggy must be seething. He’s lost his place as the damp squid of jump racing.
Harry, I'm amazed. The forecasts on Monday said deluge & to water after racing on Tuesday was bordering on idiocy. I've seen NH horses go through puddles at Naas & Punchestown but that ground had never had gallons of water thrown on it.
Anyways I suspect you are there and I hope the experience is as good as you vaguely remember from the pre-covid days.

Not today EGS, but I return on Friday. Loose buttons sometime come off. I am not one to after-time, however yesterday was most rewarding. As for today, I can‘t get Chacun’s last run out of my head, together with the master of Closutton’s confidence in the beast.
The 6s I took Ante Post on Ahoy looks like a lot of my AP bets and the way its going I'll be making another resolution to stick to betting on the day. Biggest hope is Royal Kahala @20s. Today I was a bit down with having a load of shorties in races, but I suppose that opens the door of opportunity!
1330 I Am Maximus
has form which is starting to look very good eg a horse comfortably beaten finished in front of Maries Rock next time.

Yesterday was a mighty fine day at the home of jumps racing. The performance of Constitution Hill, Edwardstone and Honeysuckle were very impressive. Constitution Hill is some horse and Edwardstone was a wonderful success for the owners who also bred the horse.
The course was in great nick and Andrew “Soggy” Cooper could learn a lot by spending some time with the team at Cheltenham or several hours in the water jump there.
As for a nap, don’t laugh, it’s Chacun Pour Soi in the Queen Mum. However, if American Mike delivers in the Bumper then the roof may come off the house. Finally, I can’t wait to see two of my favourite horses, Bravemansgame and L’Homme Presse, in the Novices Chase. The head says the Brave Man, but he has not met a horse like the Busy Man yet, save for Bob Olinger who pulled the trigger on him when they met.
Following on from my comments last week about a punter who posts in another forum, I have another episode. Yesterday he backed Stattler. No "Suprise Package" in that, of course...but he had it at 33-1 as he'd anteposted it way back! He commented as follows: "Really happy with Day One, and the Stattler win meant a lot. It was a proper go I had on him a year ago, and these ones very rarely come off. Fair cheered him home. Been following him since the start, and in one of my favourite races too. I bet him before his Albert Bartlett run last year, but actually went off him a wee bit in that race, and only when he won at Naas did I think he might have a chance. Happy Days." He'd laid a bet on the horse to cover his bet, too. No "suprise" that he adds today that he's already bet on it for next year's Grand National...
In spite of my annoyance at the ITV team (which brings the "value" of the mute button into play), the races are enormously entertaining, win or lose.
Wholeheartedly agree with Dilton about the starters. The QdB family of adults believes that we could do a better job.
Today, I am intrigued by Houlanbatordechais in the 5.30....untranslatable from French, but I suspect the name is based on the capital of Mongolia Ulan Bator. I can't resist a bet on it, though today my "big" bet (they never are) is on the favourite in that race, Facile Vega.
If I had the patience, I would analyse the three hours or so of ITV's programme. I believe that the proportion of time spent seriously talking about each race beforehand is minimal. I know it has to provide entertainment, but the balance is far too heavily weighted towards personalities, a frantic, manic atmosphere, childish arguments and blokeish banter, alleged humour and an incessant promotion of the programme itself as well as the formal advertisements, one of which featured....Ed Chamberlin. Get that new TV or a functional remote control.
Constitution Hill , Edwardstone and Stattler were the standout performers on the clock yesterday on what was virtually perfect ground .The former recording a huge 165 landing the money which augurs well for Call Me Lords chances and hopefully Phil Hobbs Camprond who is really fancied will do the same for Thyme Hills in the stayers tomorrow. Both are ew prices in the Coral Cup today.
There were though some appalling riding tactics ,why the riders in the Boodles all sat in behind Mullins horse crawling along is beyond me and the same applied in the Champion Hurdle. Why no one kicked on to try to blunt Honeysuckles one burst defied logic.Riding to orders is one thing ,but this was just mindless.
I thought the starters needed a rocket ,they got one from Tom Dowson who let rip a few friar tucks and copped 4 days from the stewards for foul language.
Oscar's Elite ran really well considering he burst ,yet another horse from Tizzards to do that .
Ms Cummani got 10 out of 10 for her impression of Elizabeth 1st .
Evening Joe. I think you may have my Monday tip, Espirit De Somoza, down twice.
Probably my fault as I posted it twice. Apologies.
Facile vega landed the nap at 15/8
L'Homme Presse won at a diminished 9/4
4th place count in the bumper ?
Seabank Bistro ew if it does.

Not a tip....but may have a couple of quid ew on Madmansgame. ...for the hell of it...sums up today. 17:3o
Aye, Harry. I withdraw my previous comment praising the ground preparation yesterday. Nicholls was seething.

It's the opposite of what Tiger Roll needed.
L'Homme Presse 2.10 Cheltenham
I think You have lost a Button with those tips

At the risk of irritating fellow posters...

I'll take a chance on Dans Le Vent e.w in the 14.50 as my nap
Champ is real /hunt 4.30 for the nap - Cheltenham picks on other thread....
Thyme White EW in the 16:50 at Cheltenham.
I'm taking on a couple of the big hitters in this race.

I think many of us has AP prices on Ahoy Senor courtesy of Tangovictorindia and I won't lay those bets.
Andy Dufresne in the 16.50 at you know where is my nap.
