Four Monday winners and three on Tuesday - well done, all. If I've left anyone out, I apologise; please leave a message on this thread and I'll update.
Two shorties today with neither going either way in the market. I'm hoping Pride of America can overcome a harsh rise in the weights as he fairly bolted in last time and just for the slightly longer odds
Poorly timed meeting at Hamilton tonight - in direct competition to a Scotland football game. The weather which has been very pleasant last 3 or 4 days has also turned to the local norm of dreich ( pronounced dreek) - one of the best Scots words
Corndavon Lad 18:50 Ham EW Nap.....
Corndavon Lad 3rd
4 9-11
10/3
T: R A FaheyJ: P Hanagan
Held up in rear, pushed along over 3f out, kept on well inside final furlong, not reach leaders op 9/2...
This is the result from 12 months ago, Sporting Life...... today same CD, class, draw, going is almost the same and carries less weight...so can someone please explain why it's a 40/1 shot today..
@Alan he has a few physical problems ,hangs left because of it ,that's why he struck into himself last run as well. Hes in class 6 for a good reason. But if he was right you are correct hes got a great chance as the race is a shocker ,so you have to hope hes ok and up for it . Hope he wins for you Alan.
Everyone likes Tarzan |( tho i suspect elements of the books haven't aged well - i just remember him from the old films) - he renounced an inherited honour, was very friendly with animals and seemed on constant first name terms with his Partner.
With that in mind GreyStoke is todays nap in the fontwell 14.45.
I cannot be attending my local Racecourse today as work beckons.
Anyway it is quicker to fly from Cork City and back to a Chelmsford meeting and cheaper too.
The Earl of Derby probably didn't use any patent laws and if he did they must have long expired.
The 19.40 at Mallow is called the "Cork" "Derby". It is an extended H'Cap for 4 yos plus.
When Jonathan finally realises his goal to set up an Alligator Racing Track in Florida my tip is the call the Blue Riband event the Derby.
It helps if you don't to have check age or gender for Racing Alligators as wimpy Vets will demand premium.
Just assume they are 3 yo Alligators and Females are also permitted.
The Munster Oaks is possibly the joint second most prestigious Race (Hilly Way number one) at my local Course.
For some reason every entry today seems to have Kiss in all their Titles.
My nap is in the 17.40. called the Mallow Maiden which at least has the manners
to identifiy itself as to the fact that the Racecourse is out in the sticks.
De Valera. Don't get me going on Politics but I could see straight away he was bred and probably named in France as I couldn't see an Irish person coming up with that name (He is buried in Glasnevin Cemetery and the last time I looked there was no flower on his grave whereas the grave of Collins is festooned less than 6 yards away).
He was also called the Long Fellow like Lester and that might be an omen.
@Jonathan Dawe Jonathan. Many thanks for that link.
Have you considered Hurdles?
I am sure some sort of Pavlovian reward system may make them learn to jump.
Please don't use Rabbits.
De Valera was what I would regard as a typical Irish-American (with Cuba thrown in) with a primitive view of the English Empire and America was always perfect and Woodrow Wilson making his 12 points meant it was actually real.
To embark on a Trade War (it was Irexit equivalent to Brexit) with our only Trading Partner led to why everyone including my Parents who were still Teenagers were exiled from Ireland.
Okay, they enjoyed their time in London but still.
EGS, the annoying thing is that the French bred nag in the Mallow maiden is De Velara. So is this a sly reference to the Irish-American (via Cuba) of whom you speak (while holding your nose)? Or is one of those infuriating typos that you sometimes get in racehorse names? Or is it a deliberate misspelling in a satirical attack by French republicans on Irish republicans?
The misnamed horse - that's safe to say - cut little ice in three runs for the Botti partnership but was still backed into second favouritism today. It was a race of square pegs in round holes, not least one of the very few Moyglare/Weld beasts to have zero talent. She finished ninth in this return to maiden company after dabbling in low-grade handicaps. You wonder why they persist with her. Weld can't decide if she is a 5f or 8f horse. I'll leave that one with him.
Elsals won at 4/1.
Otto oyl won 15/8.
Cosmos Raj in the 15:38 at Yarmouth

Almost every race at Hamilton today, is sponsored by themselves!!
Westmorian 7.50 H
Amongst the dross today, interesting to see Milton Harris' new £3,500 purchase in 2.10 at Fontwell - Dell Oro, being backed it seems.
