I think it's interesting how sports mega stars use their position and what decisions they make... Those at the top are not short of a crust, but some will grab the cash, and others will try to be a force for good.
Seems like Messi, in turning down Saudi's 100s of millions for the MLS may have made a lifestyle choice that will hopefully be good for him and his family. And I think McIlroy has been a standout of those in the Golf tour, to stand against the piles of cash towering over the game. He's got little choice now, but morally was a positive force in my view.
Ronaldo has come across as a spoilt brat with zero credit and Djokovic has been very dubious about his vaccine status (possibly a religious subtext there) and recent rabble rousing about Kossovo.
However much money you have, being a decent human being counts for a lot.
Racing has a lot of money injected from morally dubious sources, which still doesn't excuse the BHA for their woeful performance!!
I was just reading about someone who got in trouble with the BHA for "liaising" with a banned person. That person is Johnny Farrelly who was warned off for seven years for - what? The BHA have never disclosed what he did. They can be prosecutor, judge and jury and if no details can be disclosed then there is no scrutiny of what they are doing. It's a bit scary. A man lost his livelihood overnight despite there being no criminal case to answer. Wow.
I've been consistent this month... picking two out each day, but keep going with the wrong one - except on the 1st, when they both one (but the one picked halved in price:P). My other selection today has already run and won, so this is probably the loser!
Chris Cook did well yesterday with two tips which won at good odds (in the RP's daily Front Runner). Note that Greg Wood is at number 2 in the RP's Naps Table. But the fifty-odd tipsters are not coverng themselves with glory so far. It would be interesting to see a comparison with the monthly winners here, sometime?
I would think the tipsters for the dailys have to give their naps by a certain time the day before,I believe that must usually make it harder for them.Watching Newsboy and in the past Claude Duval on the racing channels surprised me how little they added to the show. I spoke with a newspaper tipster who told me about the abuse and worse they get for tipping losers it is not a job I would have fancied.
I was being a bit unfair about my father's wartime efforts at Stornoway yesterday. They did vital work to help protect the convoys and bomber command, and the base was bombed a few times. One time, he was talking to one the girls in the Operations Room and asked her what the noise was. She replied they were being bombed, and where was my dad speaking from. He told her about 30 feet below where she was.
Their commanding officer wasn't allowed into their area, and his only command to them was don't do anything that would get him into trouble. One time, he and his fellow airmen were lounging about when one of the fighter planes came off the runway and got stuck in the mud. The pilot shouted at them to push the plane. They all pushed on one side and the plane started going around in a circle. he yelled at them the other wing, so they all moved and got the plane going around in a circle in the other direction. The pilot was not best pleased. A Corporal turned up and did the usual you, you and you etc. My dad said the officer had no right to talk to them. I wonder if a rebellious streak is hereditary. One of his fellow airmen was often up on charges because he refused to salute one of the officers. His reasoning was that the officer used to serve him at Sainsbury's before the war, and he wasn't going to start saluting him now.
War is hell, but as anyone who has read Spike Milligan's war memoirs knows, it does have its lighter moments, even if they're for the wrong reasons.
My first crush was Raquel Welch. It was pretty basic stuff. Made me envious of Freddy Trueman = I wouldn't have passed up on any family dos, mind SWMBO would probably have had a lot to say.
Charlie Appleby has 2 out today. A 1st timer at 6s and a not done it yet at 10s. Were the stable in form, they aint had a winner this month, they'd surely be way shorter esp Dazzling Star. The latter is a Blue Point. You make your own mind up but why would you run it if you didn't think it was good to go?
Run Ran Run wins at 5/1 (I double posted so does that mean I get 10s?)
Well Fiddle-Dee-Dee. Scarlett O'Hara won the 18.00 at the Curragh at 13/8
Possibly off-topic, but hey...

An impressive win by Graffiti in the first at Notts. You could see the writing was on the wall from a long way out.

Looks like Cromwell and his New Model Army of fans have been backing My Mate Mozzie in the Curragh 7.00. MMM has a bit of form on quick ground.
Ibn Alder in the 17:15 at Kempton Park.
