Dragons not mentioned for a while but a clutch of them out this evening..Year Of The Dragon 18:30 Kemp....Shanghai Dragon 18:40 Tipp.....Nine Dragons 19:20 Bath....Fun Patent
My brother in Tralee had a tip from the owner of Flame of Eire, 7.10 Tipperary, 7/1 or so as I type. It ran at Listowel on June 4th, 7th of 11 at 40/1.... He has put a few bob on it...............also mentioned Sister Lola in the previous race, big price 20/1.........he has not backed this one.
I cannot have a bet, which may be just as well, we'll see.....................
I wouldn't beat yourself up about it as I have a theory that you only win on a Horse Race if it's your own return.
I put Betting Vouchers in Birthday Cards in lieu of a present and they usually end up NRs (everybody I know got a non-refundable AP bet on Luxembourg in the Epsom Derby on their last Birthday as my present)
Everybody thinks I must be a total incompetent and about to sign over my House to my Bookmaker.
Clearly that is not the case as I am running away with this month's competition.
It is simply that putting my own money on a Horse can help me hold my own but gifting a Bet carries a curse because you want that Horse to win for someone else so much than yourself.
You gifted 2 tips today. If you put a bet on those 2 Horses yourself they would have done better.
Baciodilupo, I reckon anyone who puts a tip up on this forum deserves respect. Especially a personal tip because we all want to share a winner, and you can't knock someone for sharing information. I do believe in the hex though.
John Quinn wouldn't have many runners at Bath, especially a debutant. But his colt Lermontov is unveiled there tonight (7.20) and in a five-runner race is a generous 14/1. I have no clue as to the naming of this horse (No Nay Never ex Caribbean Princess) but I do know that Mikhail Lermontov's great work was titled A Hero of Our Time. No, it does not feature a main character called Lanfranco Dettori.
Harry, there was an article in yesterday's Post on Ben Haslam & him training for JP. I read it online but I can't email over the link because I'm in the office & I'm blocked from accessing any websites with Racing content.
Thanks, Leo, I saw that article. I notice that the Racing Post, never keen to ask anything but the most obvious questions, singularly failed to press the smiling Ben Haslam on why he thought JP chose him to run this Holiday Home for Badly Handicapped Chasers project. Why him, hitherto primarily a flat trainer? JP has no other hub in England and has had very few horses trained in the north over the years. As I have said before, the air in Middleham is very invigorating, and clearly has remarkable restorative properties for horses that have been hard to win with in the south. I wish I could get whatever it is on prescription.
Someone at Bet365 was asleep at the wheel until just after 5.25pm when they woke up and slashed Lermontov from 12/1 to 7/1 in one fell swoop. Doesn't mean there's been a penny piece for him, mind . . .
Amazonian Dream won at 10/3.
