I used to go to Royal Ascot on Hunt Cup day every year in the 80's and never once picked the winner of The Hunt Cup or The Jersey Stakes. I remember one year I confidently selected a horse called Braughing trained by Clive Brittain. Came nowhere, later that year I was at Newmarket and watched the horse win The Cambridgeshire at 50/1 without the hinderance of my money on it.
Several years later i watched another Brittain horse and Pebbles's boyfriend Come on the Blues win the Hunt Cup. As a Chelsea supporter this hurt as well. Worse still that day Pebbles was beaten by Katies.
Little wonder my therapist is sick of me talking about Simply Great and other losers during my sessions 40 years later.
Today's nap (and future winner of a big handicap) is Totally Charming in the 17:00 at Royal Ascot.
My selection is Aratus (each way) in the 17.00 at Royal Ascot. Another couple of hours and we should have all the Hunt Cup runners tipped up on this forum!
I'm a bit disappointed that I don't have a big fancy for the Hunt Cup as its a one of my fav races. I really like Dramatised today but she's a bit short so I'll
Nap Ascot 1735 Chateau
esp as it made me bring to mind 'Pretentious..... Moi?'
I think it was Harry, who recently highlighted the excellent form of Gemma Tutty's stable? Mostly Cloudy ran all over a decent one of Michael Bell's at Sandown & she has him going again under a penalty at Nottingham this evening (6.20). Too short to enter as a daily nap but I'd say anything above evens represents great value.
Random Harvest not winning the last was a real tearjerker.
Looks like I drew the winning ticket in the Royal Hunt Cup raffle - Dark Shift won at 13/2.
