JD remains in rattling good form, joined yesterday by Leo and David - well done. If I've left anyone out, I apologise; please leave a message on this thread and I'll update.
Well, I consider today a virtual win! got 98% of my money back - and a neck away with 2 horses from doubling or tripling my money... (backed Aztec Empire to win and EW double with Jm Jungle, and Alligator Alley win only on exchange, also Makanah placed)
The problem with this run of luck is that my cats are getting accustomed to a diet of Steak & Lobster, I fear for my safety when they are forced to go back to astronaut nuggets.
The first race at Saratoga looks an interesting race over the American style hurdles. Plenty of ex British & Irish runners. However the French bred L'Imperator takes my fancy.
I really liked the look of Dapper Valley in the Nursery, but he’s one of the 4 NRs. So, I had a peek at the Acomb and Ballymount Boy should be the obvious pick: it was a fine run in the Richmond &, as GForce points out, Vandeek’s run on Sunday has given the form a serious boost. However, Cogitate made an impressive debut and the form line with Maximum Dividend is strong. Arabian Crown has won twice since finishing behind MD in a decent Sandown Maiden and he's got an entry in the Royal Lodge. 10/3 looks fair and while I’m probably overthinking this, cogito ergo sum & all of that…
I could end up looking stupid today - why should today be different? SWMBO- but Ballymount Boy has to win. On the other hand I can envisage a scenario where he and Ryan's mount stroll out at the start and have too much distance to make up on the quickening ground. The Vandeem form is standout and ok it may have been an overly good impression at Goodwood but the rest were nowhere as was the case for the UK horses in the Morny.
Behind in the com, the 1st race has some decent odds. Despite an easy case to be made for about 15 of them, I've backed Jm Jungle and
Nap York 1350 Manila Scouse
hoping its not a bridge too far as the Aberama Gold form is cracking.
Been looking forward to York and then on day one we get three consecutive group races boasting a total of 15 runners between them. Quite often the workings of this sport can leave even the most ardent followers baffled. Glad I kept the £600 in my pocket!
I'm swerving the highest quality races and banking on Frank to work his (occasional) magic on The Maxwecan in the 16.10 at York.
Small lucky 15 ew today...should have put Makanah in it ...doh!!!!
