It was great wasn't it?! Brought tears to my eyes afterwards - such a great performance, and I liked the responses from those involved. They are very much doing what they feel is right for the horse, and batting away some inevitable questions from the media.
I thought Deauville Legend was pretty good too.
I do love seeing really good horses performing well :D
A few trackers and previous winners (including that rare combination a winning tracker nap Pink Crystal) running today. But I will ignore all those and am selecting the Swedish raider Good Eye each way in the opener at York (13.50).
I'm actually working today (helping save American democracy at an early voting site), so will watch the Benson and Hedges Gold Cup (sub - please check name) later. I hope Baaeed wins well so the Twittersphere can explode in the Frankel/Sea The Stars/Baaeed greatest ever debate.
I'll be surprised if he finishes outside the first 6 which means I see him as a decent bet. I like the draw on the outside of the better side of the two and if he can get off to a good start can drift towards the middle or stay there if he doesn't. His last run was good. Jack Berry knows a thing or two about sprinters and will be lining up the Ayr Gold Cup for his, so giving that a ton of weight and a close run was promising. He's won the race before carrying a couple less so I hope he can become York's winning most at least until Friday when Strad has a go. I've not forgotten Copper Knight but he just isn't consistent.
Anightinlambourn won at 5/1.
NAP Applejack Poet 5.55 Sligo.....a drifter.................
That was lovely from Baeed - plenty more to come hopefully. Perfectly set up by pace of race. Where next, won that on bridle?
Anightinlambourn - 16.29 Worcester
The 1.50 at York has attracted a lot of attention - good race to be fair. 6 naps -.....lets see..
