A fine Monday for you napsters with profits shown by EGS, JD, Gforce, Pebbles, Savoieblue, and Leo; very well done. I also updated Monday's with one I missed for Savoieblue. If I've left anyone out, I apologise; please leave a message on this thread and I'll update.
Thanks for those commenting on the going issue I raised. Tom came up with some interesting points and I'll respond there more fully later today.

The most valuable race in the British Isles today is the Guinness Chase at Galway with €13,200 to the winner. At the four UK meetings the two most valuable races are both at plucky Ayr, with the top prize being £9,421. The other three meetings are all on Arc courses where the highest valued race is £4,859 at both Sedgefiled and Southwell. Wolverhampton has a nine-race card with avaerage winner's prize money of £3,573 and a healthy turnout of 91 horses going to post. This is the state of British racing today. Far too many moderate horses fighting for pitiful prizes. It truly is betting shop fodder.
The lowest value race at the Auteuil meeting is, not surprisingly, the claiming hurdle. The winner takes home €16,380 (£14,206).

Some great recollections of, and tributes to, Michael Gambon in the Guardian. They don't make actors like him any more, someone commented, one reason being that actors are all miked up now, so never really develop the power to project their voices as they used to to fill a theatre. Technology can have adverse effects. Modern is not always better. But he was a one-off and supremely talented. There is some very fine writing about him, too.

4th Jan 1964 ,I was 13 and on the sidelines watching my club Bath City entertain Bolton in the FA Cup . We were in the Southern LG Premier they were one of leading first division clubs.
Malc Allison was our manager then,Tony Book club captain .
We went one up and matched them until a daft penalty let them back in.
Up stepped Franny Lee ,in it went like a rocket ,I'll never forget how he hit that ball .
I practised doing that for hours .
Never met him when he was training horses unfortunately.
He passed away aged 79 yesterday .
A peculiar Race at Galway in the 13.50 with a large overround.
The Elliott Horse is 5/6 and the Mullins Horse evens but there are still another 2 at single odds.
This is a 12 horse field.
My nap is the 200/1 shot. On The Banks. Win only.
