Ribeye (Newcastle 3.25) looks sure to go close again. At the last Hexham meeting he led over the last, the saddle slipped and Tommy Dowson kicked his feet out of the irons and did a great cowboy act on the horse, winning bravely by 4 lengths. He's up 6lb for that but was value for more after his tack issues. Peter Atkinson is an excellent permit trainer with only a handful in training near Northallerton but has won with five of his last eight runners.
UPDATE: Just discovered Chris Cook has tipped Ribeye in his column this morning and highlighted the trainer's good form. I swear I'm not stealing his best ideas.
Tommy Dowson could be about to have a memorable afternoon. He's just notched the first for the in-form Phil Kirby yard and he rides the hot favourite in the bumper, the exciting (and appropriately named) Irish import Tommy Time. (He also rides the fav in the 2.15, Chemical Warfare, but I never want that one to win. Ever.)
It's in the parish of Amesbury and Chubb's bequest was made with the proviso that Amesbury's inhabitants would be allowed free access to Stonehenge in perpetuity, which is still honoured. Entry currently is a hefty £23 per adult, £14 per child.
I didn't get out ot the Car when I visited. i moved on. Stonehenge looks better in 'This Is Spinal Tap'.
I once got a Taxi from one of the Airports in Belfast to the Giants Causeway and told him to turn back to my accommodation in Bushmills. I had seen enough.
Alice Haynes has run nine 2yos this season, six of which have won. Alice in Wonderland.
Perfect Play in the 16:45 at Beverley.
