Went to the Bucs game last night and watched the 45 year old Tom Brady perform for most of the match like a veteran who should be put out to grass. Then someone must have whipped him with such brute force that he drove the Bucs twice in the last 3 minutes for 91 and 67 yards touchdowns for the Bucs to win 17-16. Beer prices $13.50 for a large can of beer (well Budweiser). Cheltenham has nothing. The Glazers do love to rip off their customers.
I like Pebble's nap The Cob, but am napping Clairmc in the 13:45 at Tramore.
Brady is like the John Wayne of American Football, quite a career that even I've noted and its something i don't follow. My first visit to USA was in 1991 to Florida and we drank great draft bud in hotel every night - cold pitchers. its a drink i cant abide in cans, can take in bottles if frozen.
Florida isn't a great place for beer in my experience - best pints I had were in, oddly, Hooters which was next to our hotel. They had a great dark beer and on my 3rd visit there on days when i really couldn't face a theme park i went there and spent the day reading a book and drinking. This was uncommon as the waitresses commented.
Don't normally go to a Hooters for the beer. The Hooters in Clearwater (the original one) where I was working in 1991 was a few hundreds of yards of ale away.
That was fantastic! I hope you had overall result. Morocco thoroughly deserved that. I looked before the tournament for a relatively local team, in this very unusual World Cup, because there has been a significant bias historically for home or near teams, but I dismissed all options pretty much.
Like us All, I have been drilling down at Chantilly today for my e.w. doubles coupon.
Our Trainer has one who could get placed in the 14.00 and if Woozle does the business in the 13.25 trained my M. Munch I will literally scream.
My nap is Peterhof in the 14.35. Chantilly.
A much recycled name. My favourite version was the MVOB one who won the 1981 Flying Childers Stakes when that Race meant something; Marwell won the previous year, then Kafu and then Superlative 2 years later.
I have never understood how Superlative who never won a G1 got a Race named after him replacing Bernard van Cutsem who had a remarkable career.
Flying Childers recorded faster time fractions than Frankel, Flightline or Secretariat.
When you see Woozle trained by M. Munch you think of a certain Norwegian painter. I think of one of the greatest works of literature in the English language, chapter 3: In which Pooh and Piglet go hunting and nearly catch a Woozle.
Speaks volumes of our relative intellectual levels.
Is there a lengthy piece of puzzled speculation waiting to be written about Jungle Boogie? Raced in November 2020, February 2021, then January 2022, he was the odds on favourite in each race and won them all. The last two races were won by 30 and 12 lengths ahead of the field respectively. Now eight years old, the gelding now has an RPR of 147 (Dilton's caveats noted). Does anyone know why his appearances have been so few?
I have assumed that there are problems with him, otherwise Willy Mullins would have given him more experience? Has a horse with this type of problem (injury prone? difficult to train? Etc) ever gone on to major success? I could not work out if he had run elsewhere before WM took over.
On the other point, Harry, I have seen the discussion. Strikes me that things are shifting somewhat, but the Guardian was/is not alone in tip toeing/running scared.
The role of another body which got hold of training and monitoring of policies in this area across much of the public and private sector had a significant influence and it still does. Not least on the main political parties.
Two I can think of are See You Then and Istabraq. Both supremely talented, both needed bales of cotton wool to wrap up in - and the skill and care of genius trainers. Best Mate was pretty difficult to keep right - but I risk being trolled for extolling the achievements of Hen'n'Terry in the way they handled him. But the armchair pundits moaned constantly about Best Mate running only twice a season. Did they feel his legs every evening stables. No. But they still knew better than Hen'n'Terry. Just as they slagged off Alan King and Nicky Henderson for pulling their stars out because the ground wasn't right.
The Cob won at 6/1.
NAP Let's Have Another 3.25 Uttoxeter.
NAP 7.20 Southwell - Stone of Destiny (each way)
Here's hoping Mick Appleby can work his magic on this fella. 25lb below his peak mark.
