I was unable to find any horse Hurricane Idalia related which should not seriously effect me. I'm ready to throw any tree limbs over the fence ito the neighbors yard.
Tree Limbs are one thing and maybe they have a Wood burning system and will be grateful but can you toss the caber of a tree trunk that might fall in your garden up in their garden?
I was going to nap Classic in the 1540. After his last run I was going to nominate Dobbsy for worst ride of the season but reined myself in as there was an element of pocket in there. Drawn 1 last time, (2 this) I think he eased the horse back to get some cover at the off, then made a series of poor decisions as to where he should go, that included getting to the other side of the field and through a series of closed doors back more central. Another who needs to have a tactics chat with Holly.
Nap Newbury 1430 Mitwaa
I'm assuming they see this one as a 'project' as after a promising debut he has been 'useless'.
Pleasantly surprised 2nd at 18/1, but couldn't get near the favourite who ended up odds on. Of course, backed yesterday's nap EW and it came nowhere, but didn't back today's :P
Well done Jake (he said through gritted teeth!). You can select winners no matter where in the world you happen to be. I selected The Grey Lass on this forum two days ago and it ran a stinker. I backed it again today and it goes down a head to your selection. I'm giving up punting (for 12 hours).
Pebbles kindly reminded me my nap on Friday, 25th called Battle Cry won at York. 16.45. 9/2. Win only.
Many of us are travelling this time of year and forget our naps.
My nap today is Simpson's Paradox in the 16.05. Bellewstown.
I have napped him so many times here that every time I try saying a word begging with 'S' on my device it is autocorrected to Simpson's Paradox.
On to a serious matter and Luke was equally shocked as me by yet another love letter from the Guardian to the Ruler of Dubai with no comments allowed.
Does he own the Guardian as I can't see another explanation?
He is a "famously loyal employer".
Loyalty begins at Home and as he regards the Women in his life as mere Vassels to his needs and to be either kidnapped in a foreign state (The UK is sovereign territory) or Coerce one his wives (and the article doesn't mention what happened to Princess Haya conveniently) in to a state of needing protection and the fact her legal team were being spied upon by Dubai before the UK Judicial System doesn't seem loyal to me to familial responsibility.
At what point can you say "encouraging" for the revival of Godolphin fortunes?
The President of the Spanish FA is rightly under scrutiny as I can't see any amount of alcohol or cultural context can possibly make someone do such a thing as that.
He will be up before the Spanish Courts and will get a suspended sentence (I suspect) requiring a Sexual Consent Course on Probation.
Sheik Mo will never do a day on a Female Consent Course.
Geopolitics.
If he was Russian and the UK Courts had found such charges his assets would be frozen.
Would an article be allowed to be published in the Guardian showing any "encouragingly" or '"famously loyal employer" light to the Robiales Spanish FA case?
You've made me think there EGS. Robiales has nothing to do with us. Save for a few games at Hamilton we don't know him. I had a mate who was excessively tactile and touchy feely with women and we used to be surprised at what he was allowed to get away with. That was a good number of years back and views have changed. Spain, I think, is still strongly Catholic in outlook. I can't imagine that if he is that type of person there are not a catalogue of incidents that needed dealing with which is where the situation could have been averted. If he isn't, and just got caught up in the hedonistic euphoria of the moment then the matter could have been dealt with quickly. You can see the defence. In the picture most used Hermosa looks to have her arm around him and be embracing him, rather than showing her discontent and pushing him away.
Comparing him with Sheikh Mo is a bit apples and pears. We know him and he is a world leader from a totally different culture. He does a lot in England and Scotland that we benefit from. He has done things which we abhor but to his thinking were probably ok at the time. I hope we have made him stop and think. He's 74 so any change is going to be difficult. Makes me glad I'm just an observer on the outside. I wouldn't have been surprised if he'd simply decided the culture clash was too great and he closed down here and concentrated on the other side of the world.
The Putin/Russian point is interesting, but while Sheikh Mo may have broken our laws and moral code he hasn't invaded and tried to commit genocide on a country, been responsible for a catalogue of alleged war crimes, nor tried to destabilise this country by economic means by for eg his actions regarding gas and grain.
It was a great day on Sunday - it was a well organised Owners' Day at Mitlon's yard, and the staff were very welcoming. I arrived not knowing anyone, but the first people I spoke to were Kirstin and Judy from the stud, where several of the syndicate's horses have been sourced, and I enjoyed spending time with them throughout the day. There were drinks, food, entertainment and lots of opportunities to see the horses and talk to many people, including Milton and Luke Harvey.
I had a good chat with Adrian (AKA Dilton) and Paul, as well as their spouses, and I'd like to encourage anyone to get involved with the syndicate, as they are clearly putting in an awful lot of time, effort, planning and experience into getting the most out of the horses. The horses are very well cared for, given time, and placed well, in races that should suit, and there is a clear strategy, that may change as the horses mature and progress.
I didn't talk to Tony, the Assistant Trainer, but I was sitting beside him during the parade of horses, and it was very clear, that he has a deep knowledge of each horse and is a strong part of the team, who appears to be a big asset to Milton and our team.
I hope to get to a race day soon, and hope to be back next year.
The stud team of Judy and Kirstin behind the syndicate is very strong ,years of knowledge and stock rearing set in a lovely location.
I've always bought horses from them and keep my youngsters and mares there as the ground produces animals with bone and a will to win attitude because they are reared the old fashioned way, naturally and not forced or mollycuddled.
It's a proper Somerset stock farm.
I buy foals whenever I can from people i know and the change in them after a few weeks on the grass from arrival is dramatic.
I
There's a continuity of stock for the syndicate growing on there, reared drug free and allowed the time to mature in body and importantly mind.
The other major benefit we have is that I can pre train them there ,putting in the 6 weeks of roadwork up and down the lanes that the majority of horses under both codes do not get anymore ,which is why so many fall by the wayside so early.
The look on peoples faces when Dolly and Oi arrived at Milton's was classic. Big and strong.

People watching the parade of horses:
Dolly (I think) - grown into a fine girl.

I took many pics but I think this is SixFiveSeven, who looked to me as good as anything in Milton's yard - really impressive.
