A rare second successive day here without a winner. York was tough all round. If I've left anyone out, I apologise; please leave a message on this thread and I'll update.
Rough day indeed , Joe Anderson mistook the 1/2 furlong post for the winning line on my nap, although he may well have finished 2nd. True legend today, 4.55S.
Yesterday was tough indeed. Azure Blue is in my tracker and as I'd gone on the Princess and Commanche rather than back that I put some more on Princess!
I have to hand it to you for being fair minded! It was amazing to watch the perfomance last night. Grealish has come on a ton under Guardiola. Haaland's annoyance at not scoring when thwarted by the (brilliant) goalkeeper was extreme and amusing. Players just bounce off him, too.
The Guardian's writers are the worst at present, obsessed with the team's ownership issue. Though I don't like the way that football clubs have become vanity projects or financial pieces for billionaires, etc, that is the state of the game here and elsewhere. It's not as if all other sports are not subject to financial forces, wither by individuals or groups, etc. Guardian reports on tennis or snooker are not peppered with statements of despair about, for example, the operation of capitalist forces in the game, etc...
On your final comment, I think the tall poppy syndrome comes into it. Another is the familiarity issue, well picked up by an article in the Times today. We can overlook exceptional achievements under our noses as we have grown up in a culture which has always looked to (long ago Hungary) Italy or Spain or (more "recently") to France for footballing excellence and innovation.
Guardiola has interesting methods. If he's challenged directly by a player, then they get their cards (Cancelo (an excellent player) who is now complaining about not getting picked by Tuchel). If they misbehave (like Kyle Walker) they are benched and challenged by other means. He was off the team for some weeks and Guardiola re-shaped the defence as he said that Walker was not intelligent enough to play the way he wanted. Result: Walker has got back in and is playing as well or better than he ever has done. I saw recently that Walker said it "hurt" and he was determined to prove Guardiola wrong. More ways of skinning a cat, etc.
It's true that Guardiola has been able to buy exceptional players, but he manages them better than other coaches.
Another tracker winner in Australia at Northfield Park in a 1m Harness race, only this time just a namesake and not the same horse. Clearly I'd be better off betting over there, rather than in Europe.
Hispanic in the 16.10 at York is the first time I have seen new Coolmore Colours for a while but I am going Mickyh in the 17.25 at Fontwell Park as my nap.
Zhang Yuesheng has had a few horses with Jessie Harrington (including Magical Lagoon) - is this his first share in one with Coolmore? He's a busy man with a global breeding operation. I don't think we will be seeing him often on a Friday night at Dundalk.
Croupier won at 7/1.
True legend won 9/4.
Continuous dead heated for 3rd to at least give a return on my ew nap at 6 to 1.
Torre Del Oro in the 17:20 at York
NAP: York 3.35 - Passenger
There can't be many better value sires around than Ulysses - £10,000? Here's hoping Passenger can give him a boost.
Some of yesterday's Placepot returns:
Bath - 250.00
Cork - 977.50
Perth - 470.80
York - 637.60.
Designer - 13.50 York
yesterday we had the rare site of a unfancied Dettori/Gosden horse hosing up at big odds.
Continious in the York 15.35 for Moore and AOB isn't getting lots of love either so i'll take that EW as my nap.
Hope we all have better luck today!
Ibrahimovic 3.45 Salisbury is the nap.

Mondammej in the 1.50 at York.
Imagine being a Real Madrid fan and having to sit through those 90 minutes of sheer torture last night.
