I had a decent wager on another of Hugo Palmer’s on Monday, Nolton Cross. I was hoping to secure some easy funds for next week’s annual excesses, and I was very confident for most of the initial 10 furlongs. It was like watching an Oisin Murphy masterclass. He took the rail, slowed it up and quickened on the turn for home. It was a textbook ride for the track. However, I didn’t bank on the wise old head on Billy Loughnane’s young shoulders. He looks a right find and that 5lb claim must be worth its weight in gold.
Tom Eaves is back on Ron O at Newcastle tonight (6.15), not that Paul Mulrennan did much wrong last time when he just got touched off by a well handicapped O'Meara horse.
I'm on his side but Roudemental is 5lbs better in for a head and has Oisin up now. He's also drawn on the wrong side though he should get a clear run there. So my Varian up north bias won the day.
Harry touched a nerve yesterday and I repeat a note I made earlier about Cheltenham ante post bets. I've avoided them because the value is crap, you too many have multiple entries and come the day the bookies will have much better offers for more places etc so just now when I would historically have a page of ante posts, that page is blank and as there are so many shorties I'm not getting over excited.
Hope the A1 is clear for the Varian runners at Newcastle. I'll back them both as 1 must go in,no?
David. This must mean that Joe has been unable to post. I suggest that all nap competition entrants should use your thread. I suggest you edit your title and make it consistent with the usual one?
