I hope some of you were on my hobby-horse All Class and didn't take fright at the massive market drift. 12/1 from as low as 2/1 at midday. She won by a nose, but a nose is a nose is a nose, as someone once said (almost)
Thanks Harry for your shrewd tip. I invested a few quid and was nicely rewarded. My confidence ebbed as the price drifted but the win capped a good day (in a number of ways).
On Monday I napped Water of Leith on this forum. It was backed into 4/1 and finished eighth of nine at Ayr. Today it ran again at Carlisle and scooted home at 12/1.
My nap today was Albahr. It came stone last in the 4.10 at Newmarket.
Frankie is smart enough to drop the braggadocio, pronto, and knuckle down just as the boss ordered. He will come back a chastened man, a fitter man, to ride those good fillies and some of the other smart horses in the yard, until such a time when he can choose to retire on a high, like one of his Group 1-winning victory leaps that never ends.
After Frankie's success today I feel thoroughly vindicated. Turns out there was no cowardliness, no bullying, no backstabbing, no turdishness - just a correction on the tiller. The friendship and mutual loyalty remain undiminished and we can all move on. Thank Christ for that.
That's not conjecture, Harry. Conjecture would have been, "perhaps some of the most significant owners" - the 'because' is what makes the difference, because it's statement of fact. And to say one of the most respected and long-standing racing journalists hasn't many racing contacts is clutching at the most flaccid of straws. Also, he has chosen to publish it, when his reputation is at stake. Inadmissible evidence? Nonsense.
Lydia interviewed Gosden yesterday. He said he wished it had all been conducted in private. She asked why it wasn't and he refused to answer. Gosden is a bully. His cowardice comes up once more in not having the courage to stand up to the owners and stick to his guns. You and Paul have spent quite sometime trying to polish a turd here, soiling your hands in the process.
If it were a statement of fact he would not have hedged his bets with 'perhaps'.
I have grumbled before about Greg's reluctance to engage with trainers for the latest news about the horses he is picking for the paper. He relies almost entirely on Timeform ratings. It's not a problem for me as I don't follow him. But he made the wrong call on this story by merely following the herd.
Surprised EGS hasn't gone for Little Big Bear probably a judgement tainted by having backed it - enough to persuade everyone that Persian Force is the one to be on. Its a later race that interests me, 1610. Frankie back from his Sabbatical? I'll give myself a good kicking if Mighty Ulysses delivers nevertheless
My other bit of rubbish is Tom Pidcock in the Tour d F. An astonishing young rider. 100s , sadly to just 3 places, should be able to hold a small speculative interest for the next couple of weeks.
There is an interesting Horse running in the 17.30 at Leopardstown called Maybe Just Maybe. Cumbersome name but Sue Magnier is being playful as the Dam is called Promise To Be True and the only progeny of the Broodmare to set foot on the Racecourse is called Cougar.
Coolmore have been panicking about cross breeds to Galileo at last minute stuff.
APOB has been bailing them out but this is a new one.
The Horse is by Lord Kinaloa who is a successful Japanese Stallion and with the demise of Deep Impact they need Japanese blood.
Strangely Lord Kinaloa does not feature in a Kurosawa film not even the later stuff like Kagemusha and Ran.
I have concluded after 8 hours of insomnia that it is a totally made up name.
However my nap is not Maybe Just Maybe but The Acropolis in in 16.10. at Newmarket.
Jessie H had a cross-card five timer this evening. Literally on fire!

Joe, Moonlit Cloud won the last at Bath at odds of 7/1. I backed it this morning at 16s, hence I made it an each way nap on here.
