Savoieblue kept the flag flying with 2/1 winner Rhoscolyn - well done. If I've left anyone out, I apologise; please leave a message on this thread and I'll update.
Personally , I consider today's Goodwood a good result - Chesspiece winning would have put me in profit, but 2nd doubled with a 3rd got me 94% of my stake back :)
(although Entrancement was 3rd coming into the home straight, then faded to last like a true 50-1 shot!)
I think Blue Rose Cen is very good and expect her to win the Nassau today and shorten up for the Arc for which she looks an ideal type. The daughter of Jeremy likes soft ground and the dam did too - she also won over 12f.
Yes, I didn't realise it was his first ride at the track beforehand, and with Ryan Moore in front of you, he's not likely to open the door and say 'come right through'!
I know who you mean. It was better when it was just respectable gangsters in there. You would have thought doctors wouldn't darken the door of pubs since they always nag you about your alcohol consumption. Do as you would be done by?
A while back mine told me I drank too much and needed to lose weight. " Really Bert?" he was fatter than me and I sometimes saw him in the local. We got on well despite.
Burdett Road (Goodwood 3.00), for those unfamilar with London's East End, runs due south from Mile End to Limehouse. The northern end is close to where the first doodlebug to hit London in the Second World War fell, destroying a terrace of housing and a railway bridge. The Gredleys also own a filly called Mile End with Michael Bell, but Burdett is better. The East End is Bill Gredley's stamping ground and mine too these days, though I've never seen him drinking in The Blind Beggar.
I lived in Poplar about 45 years ago for 2 or three years. At the Limehouse end of Burdett Road was the orignal chinatown. There was a big pub on the crossroads called the Londoner.Queenie Watts Arthur Mullard's usual partner at work was a landlady of a local pub,she was often seen behind the bar.I have probably drank too many pints over the years and that is why I cannot remember the name of the pub.Ihave not been there for years but I have heard it has been gentrified and i would not recognise it.
I haven't a Clue the name of the Pub and anytime I have visited Pubs in Limehouse they all back on to the Thames, feature in a Dickens Novel and frequented by the brown shoe brigade who skipped the trip to Chester or York that day.
An useful tip; if you live in one of those River Boats you can't be means tested when it comes to entering Long Term Care. Same with Mobile Homes. The Council can only means test a House that cannot move outside its Jurisdiction.
Yes. It was the first Chinatown but strangely no Good Chinese Restaurant anywhere nearby right now.
I have always been impressed by the fact that when they excavated a Cemetery in Limehouse about 25 years ago to build some development the DNA analysis of.the the bones circa 1890 showed 10% of the DNA had African origin within 2 generations.
The reason?
African Sailors who were willing buyers to willing sellers who congregated on Limehouse Docks.
Went to Goodwood yesterday and, weather aside, it was an enjoyable day. Some of that was down to backing the first winner which virtually guarantees to put a spring in your step for the rest of the afternoon. Especially when it's 25/1...!
Today I'm very tempted to go with I'm Spartacus if only to see if it sets off a chain reaction with other contributors! However, I'll take a chance with Desert Hero in the 15.00 at Goodwood.
Joe, my selection yesterday was a non-runner because Redcar was abandoned. As I was otherwise engaged I didn't choose anything else. Does that give me a tenner in the returns column? (I know that's a bit desperate but the way I'm going on this forum it could be my only return come the end of the month!)
Well done today, Pebbles. On the NR scenario, it came up a couple of times in the early days and I think I did credit it, but then some were forgetting or not knowing and coming back later to be credited and checking just became a pain, so I dropped it reckoning that it would equal out for everyone in the end. Maybe we can put it the vote for the new site.
Zarak was very brave there - and also very well handicapped. OK, 145 is no gimme, but that's what you get when you're runner-up to Lossiemouth twice. He's conceivably a Champion Hurdle horse. That was a piping hot handicap hurdle. Why can't we have races of this calibre in England at this time of year? The big chase yesterday and this hurdle today were both won by top class horses that had been laid out for the race by Ireland's two leading trainers. Their UK counterparts are still on their summer hols - NJH is fishing on the River Spey and Paul N is probably topping up his tan somewhere (not the UK obvs). Worlds apart.
The Glorious meeting is offering me little reward at minute so im going horses for courses with Aliomaana in the Stratford 16.18. Quite fancy RM in the first at goodwood - its an obvious pick clearly but dont like my nap getting beaten too early! Good luck everyone.
John Chard VC 4.45 Goodwood is the nap, well done yesterday Savioieblue. Shortly after the Derby I backed Artistic Star for the St Leger,he has only shortened a little since then so If he does not win the 3.00 I think I can rip up my ticket.
I wasn't going to bring up cheese again but Blue Rose Cen could be similar to Roquefort which makes her more appealing and may add to the year group debate.
Paddington was superb again, as was Moore, so it will be interesting to see where he goes. I would expect him to turn up in the Arc as I reckon its a no lose for 'the lads'. If he doesn't win it was either too far or a bridge too far, but if he does he'll be bracketed with Frankel and Sea the Stars.
Agreed. Going to Longchamp this year for the first time since Peintre Celebre won. Had backed Auguste Rodin as my horse but I think I can forget that one. Paddington owes me nothing as it stands.

Interesting to see Ryan Moore Jocked off from APOB to JPOB in the Nassau Stakes by the lads.
Tom Marquand is now on the 33/1 shot Never Ending Story and will lead.
Can Tom Marquand steal a lead?
When did he last do it?
Never Ending Story to hang on to second place to her familiar adversary Blue Rose Cen in a straight forecast is my bet of the day.
My nap is Zarka The Brave.
17.05. Galway. Win only.
