Sorry for my balls up yesterday (senility taking a fiercer hold) and thanks again to Tom for stepping in. Well done to Leo, EGS, and Highflying over Friday and Saturday. If I've left anyone out, I apologise; please leave a message on this thread and I'll update.
Like many, I've loved City Of Troy since his debut when he took Moore for a Curragh tour after the race. He was wonderful to watch today and I set out trying to find the best way to back him for next season. I thought the 12/1 about the Triple Crown seemed superb value, after I read a post-race column by Andy Stephens of RacingTV, in which he said City Of Troy's dam was the 2018 Oaks winner Forever Together. With stamina one of the doubts I could then safely dispense with i had the biggest bet ive had for quite some time (which isn't very big compared with many punters these days). I was thinking of doubling that bet when a bit more digging unearthed a crucial error Andy Stephens had made: his dam was not The Oaks winner Forever Together, but another O'Brien filly Together Forever, whose best rating came over a mile.
I was further cooled when reading EGS in The Graun saying that the Scat Daddy line was notoriously fickle after turning 3. What a let down it would be if this fella didn't train on, though we'll always have the memory of his spectacular 2-y-old performances.
Good luck today
Joe

I also selected Nemean Lion at 3/1. Luckily the hurdles are on the outside of the track at Ffos Las. If they were on the inside, Anyharminasking would've won by a coulple of lenghts. If he were a politician, he'd be to the left of Lenin that one..
Nameion Lion won at 3 to 1
Anyharminasking why the hell he didn't keep in a straight line after the last placed at 14/1.

Managed to turn a reasonable week into a shambles yesterday. I backed 4 in the Ces and the best came 9th knowing that 8 places were on offer. 365 went 11/10 for a while about City of Troy and I mulled over how much they would allow to make it worthwhile but then declined as there was so much noise about how he may not perform on the going. Then post race he's the next Frankel so I find the observations of EGS and Leo below very interesting. Alanaabi finished 2nd and my notes said there was no way he would run on going with soft in it. So they changed their mind.
Nap Naas 1525 Gather Ye Rosebuds
Adventurous of young Jack to go to Naas though I'd suspect the owners may have influenced that decision. I'm hoping the good ground at York was behind that rubbish run and this soft stuff will suit much better.
Strong leader 3.20FL.
Mr King - 16.00 Naas
Ffos Las 3.20 – Nemean Lion
I'm with EGS re: Scat Daddy. I got badly burned after backing Statuette for the guineas & it wasn't just my fingers that got singed. If a colt were ever to complete the triple crown again then it would more than likely be a Frankel? Â Â Â
Apologies Joe. My nap yesterday, Star Ahoy, won at 2/1 not 9/2.
That ground at Newmarket wasn't that bad ,riding only .13 secs slow per furlong . The time of City of Troy's race wasn't that hot either (87)
against the best of the days 103 .
Monsieur Kodi Goodwood 3.00 ,well done yesterday Highflying.
