A Mullins entry - i don't really look at the French meetings which given the Syndicates interest there is a bit daft! There are some odd tracks out there where you never quite know which direction they are going to be running in. Good price money though! Bon Chance

Very good prize money indeed. Sophie Leech won the last at Auteuil, an ordinary looking handicap hurdle equivalent to our Class 3 level, I would say, and netted a handy 34k for her trouble. The horse is qualified for French handicaps as it runs out of her French barn, which she has really made a success of in recent years. She and her husband are a shrewd team. This horse Lucky One has been through the hands of four of the top NH trainers in Europe, namely Guillaume Macaire, Willie Mullins, Paul Nicholls and Dan Skelton. (Of the four, only PFN got him to win.) You would think a horse with a career path like that would not have a great deal of improvement to find, but Sophie thought otherwise and takes home a good pot to justify her judgement.

Good winner for both of us there - i nearly didn't nap it as you had but fortunately stuck with it! Never looked like not winning!

It was similar to his previous win at Perth at the back end of last season and, as you say, he never really looked in danger. He’s now won 3 of his last five races at odds of 33/1, 10/1 and 13/2. I like the way Ben Pauling is handling him and he’s certainly one to keep on the right side of.

Harbour Lake was impressive at Market Rasen the last time but I was very much hoping that Alan King would run Call Of The Wild in this. This sort of race looks ideal. Maybe he's one for the that handicap at Ascot just before Chrsitmas?
