A cracking Saturday for Pebbles with a 12/1 winning nap: well done. If I've left anyone out, I apologise; please leave a message on this thread and I'll update.
For someone who tells everybody how hard she trains in the gym Bryony Frost was surprisingly weak in the finish in the last at Uttoxeter. She flapped the rains, give a swish of the whip and allowed Sam TD to come from an impossible position to grab the win in the closing stages. It was a pathetic effort. I was surprised Milton Harris put her up on two horses today - she is not his sort of jockey at all.
I have bored people with this anecdote before but I watched the Frankel 2000 Guineas in Iceland where you can watch Horse Racing on your phone but with no volume.
Don't ask me why but on a walking tour of Reykjavik I learnt that 98% of Icelandic People have Irish Ancestry in their genome (stopping off point for Norse Raiders) and I am allowed to say it might explain the rationale as I spend most of my days navigating total randomised "rules" amongst my countrymen.
I spent the whole race aghast that the Jockeys were so incompetent to give Bullet Train such a soft lead and wanted to switch my attention to a nearby Geyser. Then it dawned on me that Bullet Train can't be this good.
Yesterday I wanted very badly Paddington to win as it is my place of birth (a Home Birth in a bedsit on a 3rd floor building that has correctly been demolished before Midwives considered Health and Safety of Home Births).
I had to go mute yesterday as I was in a Restaurant.
I thought Cairo won and the fact I had a reverse forecast can not make up for the fact I didn't enjoy the Race in real time.
Last night when all good Christian folk should be in bed (I was still up) there was the least competitive race held this year. The bumper at Ffos Las saw a field of two runners in Indian file jog round for two miles and then went home. The winner, trained by Sir Mark Prescott - on a hot streak of seven wins from nine runners - was priced up at 1/100 but drifted alarmingly to a generous 1/66 at the off. He exerted himself more in walking up the ramp into the lorry than he did in the race. Meanwhile the astute Tracey Barfoot-Saunt walked away with some useful place money which may never happen again with this particular horse.
Sounds like a good nightcap and I bet you weren't still up much longer.
The late great Michael O' Hehir loved to say Indian File.
I could feel his disappointment when just 2 Horses ran side by side and he couldn't use his stock term. He managed to maintain his concentration even though he only wanted one of the two to peel away from each other.
Tiggy Wiggy was a precocious 2yo for Hannon and finished third in the Guineas. High Priestess looked anything but precocious in two backend maidens. That Guineas was won by Legatissimo for David Wachman. Whatever happened to him? Was he just keeping the seat warm for when young Joseph and Donny grew up?
Well done with High Chieftess. She seems to have come on a bundle. Ryan was outstanding all afternoon. He showed the full range of his skills and received fulsome praise fro Aidan O'Brien.
