Two Saturday winners - well done. Luke's in grand form: 3 winners this week, including a 17/2 chance on Saturday. If I've left anyone out, I apologise; please leave a message on this thread and I'll update.
Joe, I had a place yesterday – Eilean Dubh 3rd at 9/1. Apologies for not posting on yesterday’s thread. I was at Sandown yesterday and after a couple of big-priced winners things got a bit ‘sociable’. I had intended to have a decent bet on Eilean Dubh, but I ended up having a punt on Maysong at 22/1. Now, I’m not talking out of the bottom of my empty champagne bucket, but Mayson was given a lovely ride by 7lb claimer, Shariq Modh. I’ve seen many a top jockey struggle over 7f and 1m at Sandown; either getting boxed in or going so wide that they nearly end up in the Esher station car park. This fella though, gave his horse a superb steer. After a slow start he held the rail and from 3 out bobbed and weaved before unleashing a well-timed sprint for the line. Judging by the chatter from in and around the winners’ enclosure this young man’s talent hasn’t gone unnoticed. Definitely a 7lb claimer to keep on the right side of.
Worried that EGS has ducked this, and I realise that it's not top on the list of Ballydoyle's targets, but this has been the target for a while for this horse, and I can easily forgive the last run (Auguste Rodin anyone?!). It's not so much the form, just that niggling feeling - they must have other fillies, but have stuck with just this one. Also Ryan Moore is going over for just this one, I think - I know that happens frequently, flying out for one big ride, but Iortiz Mendizabal is available (riding in next race) and he was on board Joan of Arc, their only other winner of this race... I'll take the tin hat off now...
I've done a small EW double with Burning Cash in 3.50D, who I was thinking about napping, but there are some good horses and it's just 5F, so one of those that might get a different winner each time it was run...
I know the Prix De Diane at Chantilly is the big one today but I really find this a competitive renewal and I couldn't force myself to have a bet. There are too many who have run well this season and I don't know a no-hoper apart from Khahira.
I am going for Master Garvey in the 13.55. Gowran Park.
Casanova 5.25 Gowran Park.
Gowran Park 5.25 Sunset Shiraz
