@el gran senor was right to view Irad Jr as the major threat to Nest (Jose no suffix) in the Belmont. At least my betting site was offering refunds on placed horses in the race. I also backed Nest for the Place and Show, so at least a small profit. I did of course fail to do the Exacta Box, (paid 13-1)
Many of my fellow Americans have this (insert your own adjective) trait of naming one of their (only male as far as I can ascertain) children after the father, so we end up with xxxxx Jr. If Jr carries on the tradition we end up with xxxxx III, as in Davis Love the Third. I don't know whether it continues beyond that, plus I have no idea about the promotion/ relegation rules following death.
I always thought giving children the same forenames as their parents shows a lack of imagination (no offense intended to anyone here who shares a parent's name). I'm not happy that my middle name is my father's first name, but that's because of its Masonic connotation. I had a brother born a year before me who died in hospital after 3 days and in my Mother's grief, the local Priest rushed round and baptized him John Mark so he wouldn't go to hell. At least he didn't get all the names of The Gospels I suppose.
Off topic, but my first memory of feeling serious injustice for someone else was as a 5 year old in my first year at Catholic school being told about the unbaptised baby never going to heaven. Not the greatest marketing by the old Pope, eh?
Well done to yesterdays winners. I was awful. I ignored 2 from the tracker that won and would have cleared my book . Don't know where I get my ideas from sometimes. A guess today
