Co-incidentally, today is the 40th anniversary of Simply Great's first appearance on a racecourse, a winning debut in a Newmarket maiden. I was a few miles up the road watching Chelsea win 1-0 at Cambridge United in the old 2nd, Division, "Pop" Robson scoring the winner. That season was Chelsea's worst in their history and were nearly relegated, but a late goal from Clive Walker at Bolton in the penultimate game of the season kept Chelsea up. At least my winnings on Simply Great paid for the day out, but not for the AP bets for the 2000G and Derby already placed.

Nap is Lady Rocket in the 22:39 at Saratoga.
