Thanks for giving the new site a try yesterday, and for the feedback. Let's stay with this Horsetalk site for now and I will experiment with layouts in Talkinghorses and we can do more testing next week.
No doubt this has been mentioned before. The Gambling Commission is consulting on the latest set of proposals about betting limits, scrutiny of customers' financial affairs by the "operators" (bookies), etc, etc. Although it is a tedious business, it is probably worth putting in a response as some of the regulations being proposed appear to be draconian.
Probably worth a try, Tom, but in my experience of the GC, they are not fit for purpose and never have been, so what difference any number of comments returned in the consultation will make is highly questionable.
I am sure that is right. However, if they are predisposed to push through their current proposals I shall have the minor satisfaction of stopping them claiming that there were no opposing responses in their clunking great consultation which by its size alone would deter all but the most determined....
Some may have noticed the Rugby World Cup starts next week. For those like myself who bask in the jingoistic Brexiteer world (sorry Q) might I suggest backing France. They could win, or they could, to our delight, lose. A proper win win bet.
For the record, though rugby is not my game, I shall, as a genuine English patriot, but not nationalist, be supporting our team. Though with little hope of success.
No winners on Friday so little hope for Saturday. In the Bullet I was just going to back Tis Marvellous blind but he's a Cox horse and I always seem to get them wrong. Should Apollo One get to the front I can't see anything getting past as he stays 6.
Nap Bev 1440 Apollo One
The one I keep coming back to is Spioradalta in the opener at Chester. Really Lord Bertie should piss it. Sets off in front and the rest can admire his muscular behind. But if Spi can break well and sit in behind his pace he should place at least. I'd have napped him but I think L B is just too good.
Spi has been on my tracker for what seems years (lthough he' only 3) and a rare winning nap for me in the past so I'll probably back him for a place. Good luck.
I'm hoping we are 'great minds' as I've had a little on Perfect Play too. Charlie was annoyed with the going 2 runs back as he said the horse preferred firmer. Still ran well though.
The Fontwell photographer sent me these of Uggy in action. He thought it shows the little devil's jumping and determination perfectly. The horse is building up quite a fan club.

He's back cantering ,how he recovered from that run so quickly beats me ,he was literally out on his feet when he got home and still knackered on the Saturday . Sunday morning,Open Day , he was bucking around his box when the music started and we had to ride him Monday.
In all my years I've never had or known a horse as tough and with this power of recovery from a bashing and hard race.
