I would also like to propose a new monthly competition for the most PULLED UPs in the month. I reckon I'd be running away with such a competition this month...........
I was looking at the history of the Ayr Gold Cup and was quite surprised the surname Easterby hasn't won it since 1990 unless I missed one (cf Robincheaux's Danzan winner yesterday) and then it was Peter. Balding family have done well and Lochsong is one of my all time favourites.so I've had a saver on 5000 to 1 but he cost me in his early days when I thought he was going to be a good one. I've had a small ew on Alan's pick Aleezdancer at 40s (how much has Alan put on hes about 16s now) based on Jack Berry's comments that this could be his race. Doddsy is so good with his sprinters he must surely appear on the roll of honour before long so I've nibbled Tinto who is about 12lbs better in with Summerghand for 4 lengths but the main bet is
Nap Ayr 1540 Commanche Falls
hoping he's capable of delivering a Lochsongesque performance
There are probably 950 channels on most modern TV Set-Ups. None ever show Kitchen-Sink Dramas even they were they a mainstay of my Youth on my Parents TV. There is a lot of talk of English History right now but nobody shows this stuff anymore.
Yes, my favourite viewing was the Thursday drama after the news at 9.25 in the Play for Today slot. Early Dennis Potter, Stephen Poliakoff, Alan Bleasdale and Mike Leigh to name a few. Often quite awkward to watch with your parents in the room - my mother would go quiet during the sex scenes, father would rattle his paper and sigh at the swearing. It was all far too radical for today's BBC execs who have to tick their boxes.
The Lute Player did win the 17.05 at Gowran and I watched it on an old B&W TV for effect.
It was 12/1 and I did definitely specify e.w. Not win only.
I don't know what has happened to my recording of Glounthaune coming second.
Summerghand won 12/1.
Ayr 3.40 - Summerghand
NAP Chiefofchiefs 3.40 Ayr.

In the Navan bumper John Cooper Clarke fans will be walking down Beasley Street but he might find the improving Nottodaybobo stern opposition.
I'm keeping away from the sprints at ayr and napping an in form horse at Catterick. Breckland in the 4.40
Bielsa 3.40A Nap
(If we keep this up we may cover the field! I've also EW on Aleezdancer)

Ballydoyle go in to panic mode when the ground turns and will run their 2yos in anything before November to gain "experience".
Kitchen sink I call it.
There are daughters of both Lillie Langtry and Tigggy Wiggy running in the same maiden at Gowran.
Ew. doubles all around may be wise on that card on Ballydoyle Horses.
I am sticking to my Sue Magnier/Caravaggio guns and napping 'The Lute Player' in 17.05. e.w. Probably start around 7/1.
