I jinxed you mentioning how well we were doing in May. Just one placed return on Friday. If I've left anyone out, I apologise; please leave a message on this thread and I'll update.
Pisanello, favourite for the Thirsk Hunt Cup, was a great master of drawing animals and birds. He's cleverly named, by Raven's Pass out of a Peintre Celebre mare called Painting.
Got close with two 33-1 shots today; Gis A Sub might of held on for 6th place I needed, if not so upset in the stalls. Also Dubai Mile, needed 4th, and a neck 5th to 150-1 shot.
But I've liked Chaldean for a while and had 8-1, doubled with Mawj - we'll see....
I have Forte at 9s in todays KY Derby, but was not impressed by his win in the FL Derby last time out. I hope Irad rides him better this time. It looked like 1000's of tonnes of dirt had been added to the track yesterday, and I feel the winner will have to ride up with the pace throughout.
I notice a horse called Mountbatten is the last at Doncaster. On this day in particular the equine reincarnation of his evil namesake had to get his nose in somewhere. Shame a horse called Cuckhold isn't running in the same race.
My American coverage is no better. Billed as a day dedicated to Churchill Downs, it's showing racing from Parx, Thistledown, Woodbine, and Tampa etc. No previews, no Angie Biancone just races.
Caught between the Japanese pair and Angel of Empire for the big one.
Although I have the mute button on I can still lip read. I have put my Motorhead album featuring Ace Of Spades on Vinyl at full blast to eliminate all other sensory input except when the Races commence. I expect the Squad to arrive.
My Motorhead Album has 10 tracks but only contains tiny variations of Ace Of Spades with just one different chord change at different times in each track.
Comforting to see our collective minds were, bar one, as useless as me yesterday.
Like buses sprang to mind. WTF is Karl Burke doing with 3 Guineas entries? For no real reason other than 'this cannot happen' I'd a few quid each way on Flight Plan at 80s last night.
Thanks also to Harry and Quai for their memories yesterday of great British films, Ice cold in Alex and the Hill etc. The former is one of my favourite films - a great cast and a fine story. Be worth a long desert walk to sip a cold beer or two with John Mills and Sylvia Sims.
My Bookmaker is begging me to cash out my Xmas AP bets that I have given to all my loved ones on Auguste Rodin in the 2000 Guineas at 14sand Epsom Derby at 10s but I have enough at stake with Auguste Rodin and don't do cash out so must search for alternate napping glory.
Naturally we have to look across the Pond as there is a meeting in Kentucky that I know always coincides with the 2000 Guineas.
The 17.04 is Sponsored by Derby City Football Club which is highly innovative and the 18.56 features Go Bears Go who has been transferred to Wesley Ward.
My nap is in the 13.00 at Naas. Carnegie Hall. First time out and the name resonates Sue Magnier.
