Naps Table Update
Friday winning naps from David In The Air 8/11: Highflying Numitor 5/4, and on catchup Craig with a 9/1 placed horse from Thursday in Could Be Trouble: well done, all.
If I've left anyone out, I apologise; please leave a message on this thread and I'll update.
All the best.
Joe
Shock. Horror. I had a winning nap in the 14.13 at Navan with Belle Metal at 11/10.
I did specify e.w. so no real impact on the March naps competition.
Who predicts SPs? I thought it would start at longer than 3/1.
I'm buzzing after the Premier Chase at Kelso. What a superstar Nuts Well is, such a thoroughly genuine and likeable horse, and is the equine version of his handlers Ann and Ian Hamilton. I know they are Northumbrians so I'm biased, but as is now more widely known, they do a brilliant job of training proper jumps horses from their farm with its unflashy facilities (no modern American barns or infra red lamps for them!). The horses hold their form remarkably well and are sensibly entered. I have a few wee bets on Tommy's Oscar at big prices for the Champion Hurdle and I know he will give his running and be right there if any of the market leaders underperform. As for Nuts Well, perhaps he's an example of what the handicapper was saying the other day about dropping older horses down the ratings quicker than in the past. He has come down a few pounds despite not having run a bad race all season (last time he pulled up over 3m and on quick ground, neither of which suited him) and has yet, in this his twelfth year, to be seen among the veterans' chase ranks. Congrats to the Hamiltons.
Black Poppy won at 6/4
Not without risks, but I'll take Metier in the 1515 @ Kelso NAP. 3/1 ish currently.
Sorry late but
Nap North Lodge
about to run. The one I want to win, if I remember correctly is Espoir de Romay as that will give a decent pointer to Chantry House one of the few that meet the criteria for Gold Cup winner
The nap is Heartbreak Kid Kelso 15.45 and ridden by the master.
Nap 1.50 Newbury - Tamaroc Du Mathan
11 horses on my tracker running today including 2 previous winning naps. Of the other 9, Hukum has already run and won before I woke up this morning. Unable to backdate my nap, I am selecting Miss Fairfax in the 14:20 at Doncaster. I remember the role of Miss Fairfax in the film of The Importance of Being Earnest being played by Joan Greenwood who had the most amazing voice. Her scene with Dorothy Tutin is a sight to behold. (cattiness at its best).
For the first time in a long while I’m backing a Skelton horse today; it’s strange how some trainers don’t really register for me but I guess it’s my loss as he has so many winners. Sholokjack is the nap in the 13.32 at Kelso.
Stand by for the Rules debut of an exciting horse tomorrow at lowly Wexford. On video evidence Dancing City looked immensely promising winning a maiden point at Borris House in December and was bought privately by Willie Mullins to run in the Donnelly colours. He was immediately shortlisted for the Closutton Champion Bumper team but after Facile Vega burst on the scene Willie tore up that list and Dancing City is now en route for a top spring bumper, probably Punchestown. He will be very short tomorrow but definitely worth a few minutes of your time.
Kauto Riko 1.15 Newbury
Black Poppy 15.02 Newbury is the nap today
Here we have it. Kelso 4.25.
1.32K Bold Endeavour my nap today.
Joe, I napped Dartan yesterday, Dundalk 6.00: won 11/2. I also napped Come on Gruff on Thursday at Ludlow, won 11/2.
2 winners = equals my total for the whole of February.
Soldier of Destiny in the Newbury 16.12 carries the nap.
NAP Autumn Evening 3.15 Kelso.
Sunrise Lady 4.32 Navan
The big bite nap (14:55). Will have a double with famous bridge (14:05)
Talking Horses syndicate news. Sixfiveseven the syndicates 2 yo Maasatt colt has completed his pre training at Martin Jones yard and is off to France tomorrow to join Tim Donworth at Chantilly. Martin has done a superb job ,the colts been upsides and through the stalls each morning and is now ready to begin working at a stronger pace in the string. Hes shown more than enough to warrant going !
Paul has handled the admin side amazingly well , navigating France Gallops reams of paperwork to get the registrations and up front financial demands in place. Arranging the transport paperwork hasn't been easy either ! How hes jumped through all the hoops without blowing a fuse is beyond me which is why he was the best person to do that side rather than me . I've got the easy job.
Tim's name might not be known to some , but hes a young man going places and I'm as confident in placing the colt with him as I was in having Milton Harris as our NH trainer when he was not exactly in the limelight and under a cloud.
Tim's worked as assistant for Haggis ,Clement and latterly Rouget and has already trained winners since setting up a few months ago on his own. Hes being supported by the right people and we are in the best company. All I heard from my friend at Rougets were good reports on Tim's abilities when he was running Rougets satellite yard and I'm confident it's the right decision.
The colts dam line is mostly French ,his grand dam was the brilliant Misque and with Maasatt favouring geniune soft ground I felt having him trained in France was the best for him ,and financially for the syndicate ,it really is a no brainer.
