Two Friday winners - well done on what was another tough day, for me, at least: my worst betting Cheltenham for many years, but some brilliant races featuring plenty of well balanced, driving, exciting whip-free finishes.
* 6 referrals from 444 rides.
* 0 rides referred which could carry DQ penalty
* 1 referral for a winning ride.
* 3 referrals for over 7
* 2 for incorrect place and 1 above shoulder height.
* 0 winning riders used whip above permitted level.
Nowhere near the hyped drama of jockeys being unable to cope or count.
Good luck today

All this whip talk is so off PUTTING.
I just want Pointers to Profits.
I dunno what the argument with uardian is all about.
Montjules won 6 to 4.
Font 15.12. Montjules

Gustavian - 15.35 Uttoxeter
Hygiene Weiss. 15.30. Thurles. e.w.
Good day gentleman (and any ladies). As I'm so far behind, I'll need a good price or two to catch up - so for the naps competiton I'll go for win:
Dolphin Square 2.225 U
I think any of David Maxwell's horses will probably run better with a professional on board! Though he obviously loves it and puts in plenty of money.
I flew into Heathrow yesterday morning and was welcomed back to the UK with drizzle and our wonderful rail service... My first 3 short connections were all cancelled and the main section, Reading to Totnes, needed to be less than 19 minutes late for me to make the bus - it was 21 minutes late!!
The pleasure of using this network cost me almost £100, where I had just come from it would have been about £2!
Tough Cheltenham for me too, but a pretty good last day, 2 winners including an 18/1 winner, 2 placed, one of which looked a winner from the last fence, but Joe turned out to be more ordinary than I hoped.
Highlight of the week was Honeysuckle for me. Definite tear to the eye stuff.
Galahad Quest in the 14:40 at Kempton Park.
Off to racing today, but a different type - The 12 Hour Sports Car race at Sebring. I wonder if they'll let me take my Corvette around the track.
Thanks for the whip info Joe. I can only echo your comments about the racing....... I need the flat! Timeform have I will Do it as bet of the day. In conditions he is well capable of handling Truckers Lodge has a 30lb turn around in the weights for 16 lengths with him, add in the former has a huge weight and stable form is patchy to poor I think its a brave call. I've had a few quid on Truckers because I'm an idiot and the other to swerve is
Nap Utto 1500 Bushypark
who won on heavy and is at the bottom of the weights.
Nap: Iron Bridge 3.35 Uttoxeter
Scarface 2.05 Kempton is the nap,well done yesterdays winners.
Good to see the facts set out, Joe. And even better, for horseracing, that it's all been a storm in a teacup.
French (and European) racing has no problems with a maximum number of strikes (which is going down in May) and arguably we see a better, fairer competition where the better trained and bred animals prevail.
Willy Mullins was hoping to get the new rules suspended for understandable reasons before Cheltenham, but he did pretty well under the new regime!
Inevitably, there will be some cases which fall foul of the new rules, but the jockeys did exceptionally well, I think. Proper correction of horses during a race to avoid danger will be taken into account by stewards.
Does anyone know why French bred racehorses are becoming so dominant? Fourteen of the 28 winners at Cheltenham were French bred.
Joe. You've no idea how these " offences " will be reviewed or penalised on Tuesday so it's a bit early to crow about. Judging from Shaun Parkers explanation on Drashel Drashers demotion I would not take anything for granted at this stage. Lads not being able to correct horses hanging one way and another with a thump down the shoulder as it counts as a strike causing near accidents is presumably viewed acceptable by you. Horses not winning races because riders cant give them one or two more equally so.
The madness of this rule change and its timing ,and Harringtons explanation for it is perfectly summed up by Kev Blake's writing on the ATR site .
Isnt it odd that a sports governing body ignores the views of its professional participants in favour of pleasing a small fraction with no knowledge of it.
Tying riders down to maximums in a professional sport with huge sums at stake is wrong . The HK rules are very strictly applied re whip abuse but these were designed and implemented by people who understand race riding and horses . They protect the sport and stand up for it .Not like here .
