NAP Portland 3.27 The Curragh. I'm taking on Lissen's hotpot Henry Longfellow, 2/7, as I think I know more than the market. What could possible go wrong?
I also fancy Gulliver in the 3.15 R (hasnt won in nearly 3 years!) and Night Sparkle in the 3.45 N.....so 2 more to avoid like the plague.
I agree with EGS, (talked to people around Mallow yesterday), racing should never have gone ahead. The going was heavier than "shallow".
I have never flown from London City David,I have dropped off and picked up my children there. They seem to like it and it must be very handy for people with business to do in the city. Gatwick is my local airport and I travel from there if possible.
I know I'm brainless and at my age a bit fixed in my outlook. I've got it in the head that horses that run on AW can take a bit of give in the ground. The going at Ripon is good to soft soft in places and its a nice day so I reckon it'll dry out a bit. That opinion must have been early doors.
Nap Ripon 1515 Anthem National
has only run on AW or good ground and has only run 9 times for 2 top stables. He's 4 and on his 3rd stable so my deduction is that he must be a bit fragile or a morning glory or both. Both previous trainers put him in listed races and in one he ran 3rd to El Caballo beaten just over a length and 2 months later that won a Group 2. Phil has had a couple taken to him with a big northern hcp target eg Lincoln and been a bit unlucky. Fingers crossed selection!
I'm waiting to see what GForce has to say about the Great St Wilfrid at Ripon. FWIW I've backed Raatea (to 6 places) even though JC's horses seem to have gone off the boil.
I've backed 2 so far and that was the other one. Both have drifted prob because of the rain, but its a slight dogleg course that can favour high numbers and those that run towards the front. Dakota Gold won off 99 (is A Nat a pound better than he was then?) and I've also got the memory of Staxton running away with it from a high draw.
My nap yesterday Tarawa did run at Mallow and only came second but must have had Police Escort to get there as I couldn't navigate myself around that area yesterday due to Storm Betty (I knew by the name that Storm was trouble).
I napped Gloucester on his previous Run as it is a Sue Magnier name and I was in Gloucester a couple of weeks ago and it is not the poor relation to Cheltenham
I got one euro at 16/1 e.w. but it wasn't my nap.
I think I will go London City. 13.45 Curragh. What with Paddington and The Londoner there is a theme here.
I am not even sure what London City she is referring to; The City of London or the City of Westminster?
Also is Croydon not up for City Status?
I doubt a Justify will like the ground but he is a grey like his Mother Winter and I can see him through the driving rain
Sophia's Starlight won at 7/1 (selected each way unfortunately).
One cool poet. Curragh 5.10.
