Naps Table Update
One winner (so far) on day one of the new table, February's winner David with 13/2 chance Duc de Beachene: well done.
And many congratulations to Alan on winning the March competition. On a slight downside, Betfair's Barry Orr seems to be struggling for tickets since February - David has still not had his prize. I suspect the Betfair tickets - welcome as they were - are not going to be a reliable prize, and we must come up with something else; a virtual trophy, or a proper one sent from winner to winner? I'd appreciate your thoughts.
A couple of points from today I noticed ... originally I thought it best to keep the Daily Naps thread to naps and racing talk only, but it has become the main port of call on the site and I'm happy to have any subject there now.
On paying for the site's costs from the provider Wix, I'll try to think up something that's fair to all here. Overall we are looking at around £200 a year, though we got a half price offer for this, year one.
As for admin, I'd like to have help now from anyone who fancies it; maybe just 2 other admins who will be given 'rights' to control everything on the site. From May 1st I'm taking a break from racing, including this site (I have two books to write), so we have 4 weeks to get other admins set up along with the short session of online training each will need. Please leave a message if you are interested.
All the best.
Joe
Happy to contribute to the cost of the site. please let me know the detail. I’d also be up for helping to open the naps page, although I’m not sure Id like to work out the winners of the naps table. thanks
NAP History of Fashion 3.35 Ayr, 16/1 or so........
Good to know. Hope to pass by one day.
I would be happy to help with the admin. duties................running a B & B in rural Italy has been tough these last few years so money is very tight, unfortunately! But the one thing I do have is time.......
Half time in the footy, so a brief moment to type!
I'll jinx another in the SGN with Chirico Vallis EW in the 1535 Ayr, as we know.
£10 or whatever for upkeep - no problem at all.
I've put my head above the parapet for Cheltenham Comp, so I'll do so again for Admin Duties. Still working from home for the foreseeable so can squeeze it in, no bother!
On the comp format, I'm very much an EW player, so would be keen to see it unchanged! It's a wholly selfish view as I'm terrible at WO comps!!
Isle of Aron 2.17 Chepstow.
Happy to send some readies for the site upkeep Joe.
The clerk at Ayr warns that the good to soft ground will be tacky. It will be interesting in the early races seeing how jockeys adapt. I believe most jocks find this type of going hardest to read in going the right pace. Expect quite a few pulled up in the big race, and perhaps a shock winner.
Nap 2.00 Leopardstown – Point Gellibrand
I didn’t want to jinx anyone by napping a horse in today’s Scottish National. In 35+years of watching racing I've never even had a selection placed. In fact, it must be 10+years since one completed.
Today’s 1,000 Guineas trial looks a decent renewal with loads of potential. Whatever happens today though, I’m convinced Homeless Songs will improve for eventually going up in trip & Sacred Bridge would be better off going back to 6f.
I would definitely contribute to any costs for upkeep of the site, but my IT skills are sub-basic re: admin. Just to echo the thoughts of many others on here Joe, thanks a million for keeping this going and for the links that you post.
Athmad 16:15 Ling EW Nap
Happy to contribute towards site costs plus monthly (or annual) naps competition.
For today’s nap I’m sticking with The Ferry Master in the Scottish National.
IMO
Ayr 1425 Milkwood
is way too big a price. My concern would be the being too fresh, but he must have a big chance
Malystic 1.15A for today's nap.
Nap competition is a bit of fun - not a problem if not a monthly prize - I quite like Dilton's idea of a yearly prize. I don't have Paypal but would be happy to put in £10 (or £20) into a prize pot and another £10 towards site costs.
I've got a delayed holiday that has shrunk in time, and changed dates many times coming up 20 April - 4 May, so not immediately available for site admin, but I'd be willing in the future, and have some experience as an online community manager. Good luck with your bets!

Morning Joe, I would like to help, however, work commitments and the Syndicate admin will not allow this. I am happy to contribute to the cost of the site, so let me know by email how I can contribute.
I find the period between the NHF and the Craven meeting a time for watching rather than punting. So the main bet of the day is at Saint Cloud where there are two very good races. In the 13.33 SIVFIVESEVEN’s trainer Tim Donworth saddles ALLADA, owned by Kirsting Rausing. The horse won well, first time out, at Deauville, however, it can only be a place prospect today as the very impressive AGAVE should win hands and heels again. AGAVE is the first leg of a double with THE REVENANT, in the 15.25. ALLADA should win soon and the forecast in the 13.33 is of interest.
For a working man’s Nap for the competition, it will be HISTORY OF FASHION in the Scottish National.
Ashtown Lad - 15.35 Ayr
Agartha Leopardstown 3.10, is todays nap.
Off to Ayr today for races. It will be too busy but its a day out with friends.
Bass Rock in the 4.10 can be my nap. I've a horse picked in each race at the minute. We pool all winnings to a ten pound stake.. If you want to stick on twenty say then the extra is yours but a tenner is for the pot. Usually someone has a good enough day to cover drinks etc. Hopefully today it's me but I don't mind if one of my compadres lands some twenty to one shots..
