I was intending to go to Tampa Bay Downs this afternoon, but bad inclement weather has caused its abandonment.
After napping so many placed horses during April, I gave up napping anything for the past few days. Of course the winners started to occur and I missed out on 17/2 and 12/1 shots. At least yesterday I actually backed the 12/1 shot at Goodwood. I'm beginning to believe (after over 40 years of betting) that confidence or lack thereof is a significant factor in backing horses especially when going against favorites. Therefore, I'm starting May with renewed hope and self-belief.
My nap to destroy my revived self belief is Heights of Abraham in the 14:05 at Hamilton Park.
1000 Guineas on Tuesday and Tenebrism at fancy prices last Spring.
I don't need a new interest today.
It is not Aftertiming to say I backed Tuesday before she ever raced as I said it at the time. Bookies do quote unraced 2 yos for the following season's classics but it is not a good strategy. For instance I also did the same with Toy who isn't even here.
When APOB used to run 7 in the Epsom Derby instead of the cursory One last year I had a chance with backing blue bloods who were unraced Ballydoyle Galileos as they used to at least turn up and sometimes run in to a place.
The other European G1 is the Ganay but any Horse there can only be napped with any confidence with the use of a Dartboard or the Cat that belonged to Quai's Grandmother who I doubt is alive.
I will do the 13.33 at ParisLongchamp (would planners have the nerve to set a start time at 16.66?).
Toimy Son.
Autocorrect insists it is To I My Son and I suppose that is where the name comes from.
No post race interview with the owner following yesterday’s Guineas. Guess he wasn’t in town. Oh well, I suppose we’ll have to wait for Royal Ascot to hear from him. I imagine someone working overtime in Buck House trying to figure out how any potential coming together will be handled. Given the monarch’s age and increasing frailty perhaps Epstein’s old buddy could deputise as the two men probably have some common interests. It is indeed the sport of kings.
At least that did not cost you any money.Yesterday I checked oddschecker for the place terms on the 2,000.I was looking for 4 places,I managed to read the grid wrong and placed my bet with the wrong bookie. What should have been a winning day ended up a losing one.

Bad luck on that one. I‘m finding the racing at Newmarket and Longchamp today more inspiring than yesterday and the analysis is overriding the exactitude.
