Apologies to Pebbles for settling Saturday's winner to a fiver, rather than a tenner. It's always worth checking that I have settled properly, given how easily I'm distracted these days. Two winners and a place on Sunday: well done.
4 trackers today. 2 at Kempton and 2 Ffos L. A non runner and the other was Vicki Vale who got beat but was too short to bet on. So its a return to the recurrent theme
A note of warning to those of you who follow hunter chasing. The impressive winner of the race at Thurles yesterday, Ferns Lock, is still listed as short as 9/2 with several major layers for the Cheltenham Foxhunters. Immediately after the race Davy Christie stated he will not run. It's a poor show that gullible punters could be fooled into backing him antepost, with bookies handing out press releases that his price had been slashed after beating 2022 champion hunter Billaway. Stable companion Vaucelet is on course for the race, however.
I see The Boat is due out again today. Wonder if Harry will launch another raft of puns to mark the occasion? C’mon buoy!
I recall someone once referring to a large cruise liner as a boat, which elicited the response, “boats go on ships”. Makes me wonder if it’s worth having a ‘punt on the boat’?!
I had a look at Billy Loughnane's rides at Wolves today, but every one is about 1st or 2nd favourite, didn't look great value to me even though he's super hot at the mo...
My daughter in law has got me hooked on the series Yellowstone.
Apart from the casual violence and the scenery ,its the American Quarter and Show Horses that are the main attraction for me.
How they stay sound when they come to a complete stop from a gallop in a stride and turn on a sixpence is a marvel.
I noted they are bandaged.
I always bandaged my NH runners and sprinters .I was taught how to do it properly 50 odd years ago yet hardly no one does it these days which is a bit odd when you consider how light boned most of the stock is that we get .
We are told about tongue-ties and other head gear, but do we get a note about bandages? or would the average punter think that was off-putting, a weakness?
