Before I got tired of crowds and queues Boxing Day at Wetherby was the place to be. I now go tomorrow as its easier on my stress level. Sue and Harvey love a winner here too. I had a few quid on
Nap Weth 1520 Edgar Allen Poe
as in my Mystic Meg role I noted when it got pulled a few weeks back it could turn up here. With my support its now drifted to 66s to 5 places and I've found it irresistible!
They clearly have a better chance with Prairie Wolf in the 1300 but that was only 9s
Aye Right, 1.35, looks awful big EW to 4 places at 40/1 with Bet365, 5 places available elsewhere at 28/1. He surely had a rare off day last time. Good luck today.
Super stuff Joe. So far my 3 picks have collectively beaten 1 opponent (2Ps) but I took your advice and that's just about cleared the crap I picked. Thanks
I do that in the St. Ives amusement arcade every year and always win. The trick is to wait until only small children are your direct rivals. If an adult is at the table I simply wait.
Boxing Day coupons go in to double digits for me in e.w. doubles and I am sure your naps today will be the only one of the 12 bets on your coupon that will make an idiot of yourselves when the other 11 fared well.
I don't remember the Timetable being so compressed for me. 12.00 to 14.45 looks my time frame for me today.
So much to choose from. If in doubt I usually stick to Ballydoyle and so Cougar in the 13.10. at Leopardstown.
This time last year, Joe tipped Tornado Flyer in the King George. I tried to look up the original, but the website has changed since then, so I gave up. But I am sure Joe selected it ew. I believe it was tipped by Dilton, too.
It's always an interesting race.
There was an article yesterday about the owner of L'Homme Presse, Andy Edwards, who chooses horses by listening to them. It's worth a read. It sounds a bit like Mr Spock's Vulcan mind probe (also called a meld). But Andy Edwards also indicates that he can understand what a horse feels and needs by using his technique as the horse develops. Fascinating, as Mr Spock would have said.
Cartesian scepticism is a valuable approach, but open mindedness is also necessary if there is ever to be an expansion of knowledge? According to his own account in the article, Andy Edwards does not whisper but listens or focuses after clearing his mind. He seems to think it works.
There are always exceptions to any "rule". In fact, there is that saying "that the exception proves the rule". One could not recognize it as an exception if it did not stand out from the expected norms.
Surely the critical question should be, "Does it work?" We are predisposed to say, "It can't work", or "It should not work that way." because we accept and rely on what is the norm, don't we? Our minds can be closed. Do you know that painting of Isaac Newton by William Blake? Blake satirizes the elevation of science and mathematics and shows us a man seeing nothing else in front of him. We are comfortable with the status quo. What interests me is that Andy Edwards's practices go to the heart of the matter, which is how an intelligent animal responds to those who care for it.
Why should an owner not play an active role if they have the (special) capability. Rigid definitions are useful but they can become walls. The trainer seems to accommodate and even welcome it.
I'd propose this is neither a new theory nor a new skill. It was surely the original concept from which Dr Doolittle sprang. The Native Americans and Moaris probably practised it too.
I'm trying to conjure the 4 horsemen of the Apocalypse in there but struggling as I also am short of time for getting stuck into the form.
Wish they would stop playing that Domino's ad in between races....mute
Tweed skirt won 15/8.

I was tempted by Lady Tremaine (ew) in the 14.00 at Newcastle but, after tossing a coin, today’s selection is Dalyotin in the 14.45 at Wetherby.
