EGS the only winner I can see on the last day of July. Will finalise the table soon. If I've left anyone out, I apologise; please leave a message on this thread and I'll update.
There was some great tipping in July on this forum and I hope many have reaped financial reward. However, unless someone has scooted up the inside on a strip of fresh ground, I think Jake must have triumphed by at least 10 lengths! Many congratulations.
Now it’s a new month and a new competition and I’m hoping not to lose ground at the start, especially as I seem to be carrying extra weight at the moment! That said, this is an endurance test rather than a sprint and with that in mind my first selection of the month is Mille Miglia in the 20.00 at Windsor. Good luck everyone.
Whilst I know a certain order has been restored in July and the only reason I won the June Competition was the Bright Sparks were planning their Summer Holidays.
However I encourage the mere mortals on this Forum to not despair in August.
In the words of Lance Corporal Jones "they don't like it up 'em" and will lose sound judgement if they are not 30L clear coming around Tattenham Corner in the last week of August
I have cleared my Champagne Bath which I dwelt in for a Month (courtesy of Betfair) to make way for Jake who has filled the Tub with Buckfast (to each to his own).
An extraordinary series of tipping by Jake in July from start to finish.
My Bayonet is out today for the
17.40. at the Racecourse in a suburb of Greater Mallow.
The Horse 'Punk Poet' has been a godsend to me. He has run 10 times this year and always wins or get placed at nice odds for me.
In fact if you backed him from the start of his career and ignored his Dundalk Races (which is easy to do as once you take an Interest in Dundalk you are not on a slippery slope. The next day you will be rifling for Cigarette Butts on the ground) he is quids in off a level stake.
Which brings me to my nap.
Beasley Street. 17.40. Mallow. Zone 2. A Debutant.
Like most mere mortals we have been surviving on Beasley Street for the past month but I believe this Month I will be moving back up the Monopoly Board to Park Lane and Mayfair.
Well done, EGS. You remind me of a fast bowler who played cricket for Lancashire and England, Brian Statham. His approach was, "If you mss, I hit" - consistent accuracy (as well as high speed).
Beasley Street. It's a strange choice of name? Any ideas? Maybe the (original?) owner just liked John Cooper Clarke's writings? Could it have been named in reference to Conor Beasley? The odds suggest that it's a no contest race at Mallow, but one could end up..... on Carey Street.
On the matter of names, Mrs Magnier has been a bit dim with her choice of name for the winning debutant in the mile maiden for 2yo at Naas, Denmark (GB). (Mile maidens for 2yos on the first of August? The nights must be drawing in.) The colt in question is by Camelot out of Board Meeting. That is an open goal for anyone, even Chris Wood, surely. It's obviously got to be Round Table. Hasn't it? Not Denmark. Maybe Sue found the name in that drawer everyone has in the kitchen that is chockful of random oddments which might be useful one day but usually aren't. I have nothing whatsoever against Denmark the place, by the way.
Water of Leith wins at evens to start month a steady keel...
NAP Ocean Quest, 3.40 Naas. Now in to 14/1 or so......................
Congratulations to Jakeb, superb tipping in July. Its a new month, a clean sheet, a blank slate................................
Over ambitious start to the month. Apricot Twist at Naas in a 22 runner 2 year old race going off at 15:40.
Congratulations to Jake on a fantastic month of naps.
