Rich Belief ew in the 18:05 at Down Royal. I assume DR were willing to pay Frankie's appearance fee. Sorry to hear about the death of former jockey Edward Hide. I remember leaving Newmarket one day, and seeing him in the car next to me. I called across and asked him if had anything good running the next day. He replied he had a good'un in the big race at Redcar. Bloodly thing came second, beaten a short head.
Far too many Novices and Maidens about today. i'm going to take Eeh bah Gum in the Hay 14.35 EW as the nap, Won the race last year so must have a squeak and is currently 20s'.
APOB is getting ever more inventive in his race planning. Cambridge's form reads Roscommon and Salisbury on his road to presumed greatness in 2024. Should I be watching out for his entries in Hexham bumpers for his superbly bred, late developing staying types? He must be tiring of Dundalk, surely to God.
Glad Gaz could keep things going, I'm right on the cold list.
Who's rattled Lissen's cage? Coming over here to snaffle our prize money. Perhaps he sees the opposition less than back home. Tempting especially as Kestrel is a lovely show potato and the national/northern championships are on next week at Newby Hall. Instead
Nap Hay 1435 Muker
in good form and still about 2 stones below his original rating when he was with Makin and I thought him a really good horse. I'll prob kick myself later as O'Meara's sprinters have been excellent this season (again).
I went to the Muker Show several years ago with the Aged Parents. The run across to Swaledale was glorious on a fine September morning, Swaledale looking at its loveliest. The Muker village silver band had a great swing to it, keeping everyone in a merry mood as we studied the pedigree sheep, vintage tractors and prize onions, and applauded the first few home in the Fell Race. It was all somehow more English than the Last Night of the Proms.
I came too late to comment on the thread involving Harrytheactor and michael_heery yesterday.
In my first senior position my first 3 Trainees were Kurdish who had lived In Baghdad but sought refuge in Europe after the 1st Gulf War.
I was struck by their accounts of the War as opposed to the "precision bombing " advertiserd on CNN.
During emergency Surgical Procedures they didn't care so much about the American Bombers above the Hospital and what direct action they might take to their own safety.
They cared about the noise and the vibration from the massive Planes that affected their practice; the building shook as these Planes hovered.
Nobody could keep their hand straight whilst operating or talk to each other in the operating theatre as the noise and vibration was shock and awe.
My nap today is obvious; Kestrel. 14.25. Ascot. Don't know what that's all about with Lissen but have to run with it.
My best friend's son was an Apache pilot in Afghan. He came out of the forces five years ago but is kicking himself now. Working for a City bank just doesn't quite do it for him.
Red Maids won at 9/4
NAP Charlie Darling 7.10 Down Royal.
Soul seeker wins @5/1.
Red Maids 4.20Hay
Soul Seeker. Haydock 2.35.
Apocalyx 5.05N, bit of a guess today.
