I think Dandy Dan has a live chance of turning over the hot favourite Vaucelet in the big one at Stratford. He has been prepared for this day by Jim Bourne and ridden throughout by young Lauren Keen-Hawkins, and they absolutely hacked up last month at Cheltenham on ground similar to tonight's, putting away solid yardsticks like Mighty Stowaway and . Of course this is a step up and Vaucelet has smart hunter form in the book in Ireland, most recently going close behind Willie Mullins's star hunter Billaway, who has really put in an improved showing this year. Nonetheless, I see DD as a big improver. Quite lightly raced when with Kim Bailey, he still runs in the colours of one of Bailey's big owners. Lauren can't claim in this championship race but she is a capable rider and knows this horse inside out. You can still find some 11/2.
Lauren was all wrong at the first and he took an age to warm to his task but wasn't good enough on the day. Vaucelet's jumping was far from fluent but his superior speed on the flat won the day. Terrific big race double for David Christie.
My only UK based tracker horse running today (I have one in Sydney for some unknown reason) was listed at 33s this morning and I was too embarrassed to nap it. It drifted out to 100s at one stage, but finished 3rd with an SP of 80/1. Didn't bother to back it of course.
@GazP If you want an example of what I was on about yesterday ,watch the re run of the last at Sandown and compare the ride the winner got to the one Spencer gave Mensuiers horse who was off and fit after his 197 day break. (11/1 )
@Dilton i have no expertise, but dont get Spencer most of the time tbh, you've gotta give the horse a chance surely. Also thought enemy was given far, far too much to do last night..may not have won but still, mind you marquand was superb from the front.
I don't think Frank's ride in the Henry II was glaringly bad. All the jockeys were caught napping by Tom Marquand's enterprising tactics. Tom was excellent all evening, especially in the last, but 9 times out of 10 a ride like he gave Quickthorn ends in being swallowed up by the closers. Then he would get slammed for making too much use of him. Mind you, if I were the connections of Ar El Bee in the last I'd be furious with Frank. What on earth was he thinking?

WAY OF LIFE 15.40 Chepstow is the nap. SEA OF TIME could be special in the 16.50.
A great selection. Can only get radio commentary here in France (W Hill). Eligible was patiently run, I think, but it made excellent progress on the rail in side the last furlong. But at present, for me, such winners are as rare as the rain here.
👏👏👏👏👏
Eligible 6.30 Pontefract won SP 14/1.

Don't know about nap of the day but Dilton deserves a gold star for his comments about Marquand who then, right on cue, rode a blinder on Quickthorn.
