Four Thursday winners: tangovictorindia with Golden Boy Grey 6/5: David with Dorking Lad 13/8: Highflying with Intervention 2/1 and Gaz with 13/8 chance Pilsdon Pen. Well done, all.
If I've left anyone out, I apologise; please leave a message on this thread and I'll update.
Discussion of politics is not exactly encouraged on this site, but I cannot let the 24th of February 2022 pass without registering my rage and disgust with Putin and those around him, the ones who took the oligarch bribes, the more unfortunate of his vassals who reacted to threats when bribes were off the table. Putin has worked himself into a position of dominance, confident none will take the necessary action to stop him.
How does one little man - 5ft 7inches of greed and cruelty - come to achieve what he has? How does he manage to control the reactions of the 146 million citizens ruled by him, especially when he is as susceptible to a bullet as you or I? He has two stubby fingers up to the whole world right now and his only possible weakness is complacency. I suspect there are many millions of his countrymen who would happily assassinate him. The thought will have crossed Biden's mind too. Let's hope someone delivers.
Good luck all
Joe
Well done Joe. I won't add my comments as it would merely repeat those already up. Some very brave people in Ukraine. I don't think it will end the way Putin thinks. He seems to have lost his marbles. It is very dangerous for us all.
Craft Irish won at 4/5
Raddon top, goes in at 5/1.
kingofthewest wins for nap at measly 4 to 9. Was 8 to 11 earlier and hoped it might come out. A safe harbour really on a tricky day
Bit late today so I'll just nap craft Irish (17:30)
Hunter Legend in the 16:20 at Exeter.
As a Chelsea fan, I am shocked to discover that Roman Abramovich is a close associate of Putin as I've buried my head in the sand for nearly 18 years. If he pulls out or is forced out of Chelsea so be it. There's plenty of other sports washing despots and potentates out there. Looking forward to racing at Meydan later.
I went to school with a few' Ukeys' as we called them. All lovely from memory. I think their families moved over here to escape communism. We need to open our borders to be a safe haven for many more now. My personal belief is the West has not been strong enough with Putin historically eg when he invaded Georgia or annexed Crimea. He must laugh or sneer at the sanctions imposed.
I've spiked a couple of Bailey's recently so I'll side step Queen of Hearts
Nap Exeter 1650 Who's in the Box
as I need a longshot!
Many going for the 1550 @ Exeter, and I will too - Samuel Jackson is the NAP.
Devizes - 14.20 - Lingfield
It feels as though we’re living in a state of almost perpetual crisis. Wayfinder is my rather optimistic nap in the 15.50 at Exeter.
De Young Warrior 1.35Ex
Raddon Top. 3.20 Exeter.
Nap Exeter 3.50 – Classic Ben
I agree wholeheartedly with your comments on Putin Joe. How the hell did we get here? There was a great interview with Leonid Volkov on the World Service’s Hardtalk programme today that sheds some light on that question.
Dark times indeed. With the amount of dirty money being washed through the City of London you'd hope Britain could help put the squeeze on some of Putin's kingmakers. I'm not entirely confident that our current government will be the ones to do it, though.
Grand Mogul 1.35 Exeter is the nap.
its a dark time, my thoughts very much with those in Ukraine ( little good that does them i know but still).
Todays nap is Kingofthewest ex 14,45 - picked despite its name on a day when few horses scream bet me.
Eleanor Bob Warwick 15.05
Volcano 3.50 Exeter is todays nap, well done yesterdays winners.
Putin is the worst of a useless shower of world leaders, what did we do to deserve them?
Chavajod in the 17.00 at Dundalk.
I was going to tip Laugh a Minute in the 18.30 but I am funny peculiar not funny ha ha a minute in my tipping.
Interesting that sanctions are talked about freezing the assets of Russian Football owners but not a Dubai Racehorse owner that has armed one side of theYemeni Civil War since 2015 with hundreds of thousands dead.
Agree with you all, scary times with a bitter, deranged ex kgb man entering Blofield territory. Warning signs have been many (Georgia, crimea, Salisbury, election interference etc). Anyhow, will stick with Bellatrixsa 1.00E knowing trip is probably too short...
Anyway it's birthday eve....bus pass arrived...pension starts a year later than expected....birthday nap is Wayfinder 15:50 Exe
